  • Many of you may not have the chance to see an elephant festival. Visit Kerala in late April or early May to attend Thrissur Pooram to see one such festival.  Don’t miss the cultural capital of Kerala or Thrissur. 
  • Guruvayoor Utsav is organized each summer.

  • There are spots for parasailing, paragliding and sky diving. 
  • Trekking trails are also accessible in summer.

Monsoon in Kerala

  • In Monsoon, tourists in large numbers visit Kerala for Ayurvedic treatment. At this time the pores of the skin open up easily which makes the Ayurvedic treatment more effective. You can also go for a relaxing spa.  
  • Nehru Trophy Boat Race is organized in August each year. It draws a good number of visitors as well. 
  • Watch an amazing sunset from Varkala. 
  • You can select Kovalam, Idukki and Wayanad for sightseeing.

Places to Visit in Monsoon 

Bird Watching:  Kumarakom is a bird watchers’ favourite spot. It is home to both local and migratory birds. 

Waterfalls: Athirapally falls, Mattupetty looks breathtakingly beautiful in Monsoon. 

Lake: Astamudi Lake is where you will find 8 channels. It is also the entrance of the renowned Kerala Backwaters. 

 Island trip: Go with your family and friends to Ponnumthuruthu Island for added pleasure and fun. 

Challenges: In Monsoon there will be heavy rainfall and chances of accidents increase if you go trekking and hiking. 

Winter in Kerala  

Winter is the peak season in Kerala as far as tourism is concerned. Tourists enjoy winter most because the humidity goes down. The average temperature remains between 16-18 degrees Celsius. Moreover, all the tourist spots remain open. In all of them, you will see a huge crowd. In this crowd, some are newly married couples who have gone there for honeymoon. The rest are adventure seekers. Winter starts in November and ends in February which makes it the right time to visit Kerala.

Activities to do in Winter

Places to go in Winter 

Visit National Park: To get a closer look at the endangered species, make time to go to Periyar National Park and Eravikulam National Park.

Beaches:  You can select Alappuzha and Kovalam beaches as your next picnic spot. You can see Chinese Fishing nets and buy all kinds of marine products.  

Kochi: Kochi has some of the major landmarks of Kerala. It is also a good place for shopping in the exclusive malls. 

Challenges As winter is the peak season in Kerala, both your accommodations in hotels and travel by air become costlier. It would be wise to make reservations in both cases ahead of your travel date.
