Hammersmith’s tri-umphant retail experience

From Carnaby to Oxford, there are certain streets in London that are synonymous with the ultimate in Retail therapy. At the heart of London’s Shopping experience lies Oxford Street which first established itself as a major retail centre in the late 19th Century. By comparison, Carnaby Street’s fame came a little later with the swinging 60s putting it on the map in terms of international fashion and commerce. Of course, famous stores such as Harrods, Savile Row and Harvey Nichols attract the elite who are looking for prestigious brands while Camden Market offers everything from punk and gothic clothing to tattoo artists and piercing parlours.

For visitors staying in central London, the number of shopping experiences available are endless and it can be difficult to decide where to begin. Guests selecting a hotel in the West side of the city, such as the Adria boutique hotel, have a range of options literally on their doorstep, including London’s biggest shopping centre, Westfield, which is a mere 5-minute walk away. Covering 150,000 square meters, Westfield houses everything from high fashion to books to restaurants, a luxury spa and a 14-screen cinema. In the centre of this extensive development stands the Pavilion which includes a central large Atrium. Overlooking the Atrium is the Balcony where there are 13 different culinary counters to choose from, spanning everything from sushi, Vietnamese, Middle Eastern and even one outlet dedicated solely to the production of gourmet salads.

Another unique corner of Westfield is The Village which houses the luxury quarter of the centre and is home to numerous British and international designer names, like Tiffany, Louis Vuitton and Mulberry.  If you really want to feel like a celebrity for the day, The Village offers a multi-lingual concierge service, including handsfree shopping, personal chauffeurs and international delivery. For a little extra pampering, you could also pop into Aqua Massage and enjoy a relaxing and rejuvenating experience.

If you want a slightly more down-to-earth spree, the Kings Mall Shopping Centre is situated just five minutes from Adria Hotel, Hammersmith, UK and offers a modern lifestyle shopping experience with everything you might need from clothing to health foods, electronics to fashion.

Take another five-minute walk and you’ll arrive at Hammersmith Broadway which boasts lots of takeaway food stalls as well as jewellery, accessories, shoes, cosmetics and even an exclusive chocolatier with a range of irresistible handmade delights. If you need a break from your retail experience, you can enjoy a reasonably priced meal at any of a number of eateries, offering gastronomical experiences from around the world. Recently opened is also the Pod, with its legendary scrambled eggs, signature curries and healthy handmade salads.

As a central transport node, you can also travel almost anywhere in the city from Hammersmith Broadway, making it the perfect place to stop off for a little shopping either before you venture into greater London or on your way back to your hotel after a day of exploration. With a large, modern bus station offering coaches all over the country, as well as airport transfers, the over ground is comprehensively covered, while the underground has two stations served by the Hammersmith & City, District and Piccadilly lines. You don’t need to be in the heart of London in order to be in its centre.
