Yard House

Yard House features an extensive Beer menu.

Now I know this blog is supposed to be about the places in Boston I’ve never been to before, but I thought I’d take a minute to mention  a place I’ve been to once or twice before that I really enjoy: Yard House. I’m not typically a huge fan of chain restaurant/bars, but Yard House gets it right. The variety of food and draught beers they offer is exceptional. Whether you’re interested in watching a game or sitting down to a nice meal, Yard House is a great option.

Located in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood, this spot is a bit more classy, shall you say, than some of the other sports bars in the area. While the bar in the center of the room does feels quite like a typical sports bar, there are plenty of tables in the rest of the location for customers to sit and enjoy a more private, peaceful dinner.

Having not been there since mid-summer, I was excited when a friend of mine asked if I wanted to catch the Patriots game at Yard House on Sunday. We sat at the bar, which surrounds a seemingly endless line of beers on tap, ranging from traditional American beer choices like Coors and Miller to craft and local offerings (though if you order a Miller Lite here, I’m definitely going to judge you). I started my evening with a half yard of what I refer to as my “go-to” beer: Harpoon IPA. These signature one-and-a-half foot glasses hold a whopping 32 ounces of beer. Following that, I ordered one of Yard House’s  featured bottle offerings, a Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin. Brewed in Maine, this strong beer features spicy flavors of pumpkin and nutmeg and is definitely one of the best pumpkin beers I’ve had this fall.

Beer isn’t the only thing served at Yard House. Its food menu boasts an extensive list of  appetizers, salads, pastas, sandwiches, grilled burgers, individual-size pizzas, seafood, steaks, ribs and more. While I’m sure everything on the menu is delicious, I’ve got just two words for you: Truffle Fries.

If you’re in the area, this is one place I would recommend.

Yard House is located at 126 Brookline Avenue.
