It’s up to you where you start the journey to Lviv. We start from Kyiv.

How to get to Lviv by car? Residents of the capital, Kyiv region or neighboring territories can plan a trip to Lviv via the M06 highway. According to routes.in.ua, this is one of the best roads in Ukraine.

M06 Highway

60 kilometers from Kyiv is Radomysl Castle Museum. This is a private museum complex in Radomyshl city, Zhytomyr region. It was created by a Ukrainian doctor of medicine Olha Bohomolets. The exposition hall is located in the building of the old mill of 1902. The complex also has ritual and concert halls, a refectory and a landscape park.

The exit to the Castle is located in Kocherov village, 27 kilometers from the highway.

20 km from Kocherov is Korostyshiv city with the famous Korostyshivsky quarry. The labradorite, gabbro and gray granite had started to mine here at the beginning of 1850s. But in the days of Independent Ukraine the production was suspended, and the quarry was flooded. Now it’s a picturesque lake surrounded by rocks. You can come here for a picnic, take a swim or simply admire the stunning views of the canyon.

Another 30 km along the M06 highway and you are in Zhytomyr – the ancient city which, according to legend, was founded in 884. It is famous for its cathedrals, temples, suspension bridge and old cemeteries. Here you can also have a meal in one of the best places in the city according to Tripadvisor.

The next interesting place which is not difficult to reach by car is Koretsky Castle. The tower of this castle is depicted on the coat of arms of Korets city. Only ruins remained from the construction till nowadays. For those who are interested in the architecture of the early 14th century we recommend visiting this place. Moreover, the exit from the highway to the castle takes about 10 minutes.

And 9 kilometers from Dubno there is Tarakanivsky fort in Tarakaniv village. It was built to protect the Kyiv-Lviv railway line during the time of the Russian Empire.

Another interesting place on the way to Lviv is Brody Castle. This 16th-century building was a fortress for residents during the Battle of Berestechko and Turkish campaigns, as well as a prison for prisoners.

In the same Brodsky district there is another castle – Pidhirtsi. It is well preserved, and together with Olesko Castle, is included in the excursion route “Golden Horseshoe of Ukraine”. Episodes for “D’Artagnan and the Three Musketeers”, “With Fire and Sword”, “Wild Hunt of King Stach”, “Flood” films and others were shot on their territory.

The way to there is along the same M06 road with offshoots of 3 and 1.5 km to each place.
