Roy Jones Jnr has officially become Russian citizen. One of the most talented boxing athletes that has managed to win world championship titles in 4 weight classes has been issued his Russian passport at the official ceremony in Moscow. Mr. Jones noted that he’ll keep his American passport as well, but plans spend more time in Russia.

As far as I understand Roy Jones Jnr will be involved in a number of projects here. The most notable one assumes opening of the boxing schools chain that will cover the whole country. They say that there is a preliminary agreement in place with more than 30 regions of Russia that are ready to support the process.

At the present moment Mr Jones is searching for his new home in Russia that he plans to purchase in the near future and actively participates in many public events. By the way last knight I saw him at Duran Bar which is the hottest night club in Moscow right now. So he is obviously enjoying his new status.

There are rumors that this whole show with Roi Jones is all about the sought after 13 percent revenue tax that exists in Russia. A person has to stay in the country for at least 6 months per year in order to be eligible for the local tax enrollment. This way Russian citizenship will allow the faded boxing star to participate in a number of business initiatives and make some cash. On the other side Kremlin is expecting that some positive PR will be generated in the international press similar to the case with the French actor Gerard Depardieu.
