The Juice Bar

Caroline and Jamie have been busy harvesting herbs, fruits and vegetables from our farm, while fine tuning their recipes, and the Juice Bar at Kukuiula is now open.  The welcome drinks, teas and juices at the Spa are made fresh daily from our Farm and Spa Garden produce, and now are available for sale in the retail areas of the Club.  The juices are made with a cold press juicer to keep the vitamins and nutrients alive; tea leaves are picked, dehydrated, and simmered to create the perfect flavor.  The menu will rotate based on availability of ingredients and requested favorites. When you drink the fresh juices of raw fruits and vegetables, highly concentrated vitamins and minerals enter the blood stream much more rapidly than by eating the same amount.  Research shows that up to 95% of vitamins and enzymes we need to stay healthy can be obtained by juicing a variety of produce.  These nutrients help protect us against cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases, and help prevent oxidative damage.  Juicing is also a great way to keep your keiki healthy if they don’t want to eat their vegetables! Each juice on the menu is designed to provide a health benefit while tasting great.  The current juices available are:

Tropical Breeze – watermelon, lime

Simply delectable, this seasonal sweet treat features Hawaiian watermelons that are only available for a limited time. Both watermelon and lime are filled with electrolytes to keep you hydrated in the summer sun. This juice is a smart choice for a day at the beach as it has muscle boosting amino acids and is rich in the antioxidant lycopene, which has been shown to help protect skin from UV damage.

Poipu POG – pineapple, orange, ginger

Fresh Hawaiian pineapples are rich in bromelain, an enzyme that helps to digest proteins. Oranges are rich in Vitamin C, an anti-oxidant that is vital for a healthy immune system. Ginger is recognized as a powerful healer in traditional Hawaiian and modern medicine. Its anti-‐inflammatory properties can help to speed up recovery time after a workout and may even help reduce muscle soreness and joint pain, making this drink the perfect pick me up after your south side activities.

Green Flash – kale, swiss chard, cucumber, green apple, lime

A burst of fresh calamansi lime helps to balance the pH of your body and assists in absorbing iron from the leafy greens. Dinosaur kale and Swiss Chard provide phytonutrients that nourish cells and aid in detoxification. Cucumber is a mild diuretic that can assist in the body’s natural cleansing process. Seeing the Green flash at sunset can be tricky, but getting a serving of fresh greens from our farm is easy.

Hawaiian Heat – chili pepper, lemon, honey

Detoxify with a blend of house-‐made Hawaiian chili pepper powder that has been shown to raise metabolism, increase circulation, and purify the blood. Lemon is a natural cleanser that is rich in enzymes and has an alkalizing effect on the body. Honey sweetens the deal and provides a boost of energy. Drink this at the first sign of a cold to help perk you back up.
