Read 'Día de Brasil Barcelona 2015' in all its glory on the Homage to BCN website

I love Brazil! I love the music, the dancing, the beaches and of course the cocktails. But it’s a bit of a trek. Luckily Brazil comes to Barcelona each year for a day of pretty much all I love about the country. Lots of sexy samba, caipirinha cocktails and great food. I go each year and it’s always a great day out with a top-notch atmosphere.

The event is in it’s 7th year and this year it has moved from Moll de Marina opposite the Hotel Arts down to Parc del Fòrum. This is quite a venue change so it will be interesting to see what this year has in store.

There’s music from Emicida (apparently the Brazilian Jay-Z), Aleh, a stalwart of the samba-rock scene, and the wonderfully named and multi-talented, Carrossel de Emoções. And of course any Brazilian event wouldn’t be complete without a fair bit of capoeira from the all too energetic Capoeira Cordão de Ouro.

It starts at midday this year but usually the music doesn’t get going until the middle of the afternoon.

Also, for the 2nd year running and as part of the Festival de Cultura Brasileña, a series of Brazilian films will be shown at Cinemes Girona on Carrer de Girona between the 10th and 13th of September. You can check out the film programme also.

The event helps to promote Brazil abroad both for business and tourism so it has a serious role too. But for most of us it’s just a great day out. So get yourselves down there!
