Mayflower Restaurant TNagar, a MUST TRY Restaurant

My Brother Sarath Babu in the picturesque Foyer

The Mayflower Restaurant is located in T nagar closer to Kotak Mahindra bank off Venkat Narayana road, in Burkit Road. A nostalgic feel engulfs once we get to the restaurant, the beautiful bungalow with its rustic charm known as Dr. Bhanumathy Ramakrishna’s residence welcomes us with a decent parking space, a lovely foyer – a homecoming feel for those who know what it is to see an old  building of the 60s, the large windows and the space that seems to be well organized not to spoil its demeanor.

Though the restaurant serves vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, we are reviewing the vegetarian dishes here. There is a touch of uniqueness in the dishes, the vegetable dumpling mushroom soup started our journey. A clear soup, it had a spinach dumpling in it and it tasted yummy. We did feel there was an eating good and healthy vibe when we sampled the food – liberal amount of vegetables in each dish – you can see the Broccoli Corn bursting to its seams in the momo, a big plus for us.

Onion rings, crispy Lotus stem, Cajun paneer skewers ( felt a bit spicy hot for us), Mexicana nachos, chili basil vegetables bowl (removed the chili as it was hot!!), broccoli corn momo were delightful. Ranging from Rs.149 to Rs.199, a pretty decent fare for the location, quantity and ambience.

My best was in the main course surprisingly and in the Khao-Suey Veg. A platter of noodles with Burmese yellow gravy ( simply Yum Yum yum) with assortment of add-ons – peanuts, mint, coriander, garlic chunks, chilli flakes, crispy onion, sweet sauce and lemon slices.  We added everything except the lemon, and it was simply amazing. It is priced at Rs.299/-  DO NOT MISS IT.

For the dessert, it was Orange Flambe Darsan served with orange juice, orange sauce and ice-cream. We have had Darsan before and it was usually chewy. Thanks to the flambe, it was crispy irresistible too. Normally, our review plays more on starters but this time, it was the main course and dessert that rocked the stage.

This may be suitable for few and not others, but we loved the watermelon with a dash of ginger served fresh without ICE.

Kudos to Chef Koushik (Mad Chef) for curating a menu that is appetizing and healthy.
