Café Central – The Place where Food makes Heart Do the Talking

This is a review of a place we have been addicted to in recent times. The Restaurant, Café Central located in T.Nagar has enamored us in more than one way. The big plus is the restaurant has given us an option to dine in a hangout trending  place as a family with varied tastes. Just a bit of elaboration here, a trendy college going girl with latest taste, a typical south Indian palate and a moderation of both is our family taste. It is certainly a tough call satisfying all of us under one roof and saying that this place has become a favorite place is no exaggeration. Now to the food we had, we already have been there twice, but we just managed to try out just a wee bit of the menu.

The specialty of this restaurant is though the menu is extensive, each item has its signature and is prepared with care and the uniqueness in taste has made this food addictive.

Another big plus of this restaurant is all the items are available 24 by 7. An all day breakfast too for the late eaters who love to get up at 10 am and look for breakfast options.

First about the Sapad, my favorite. These are combos, so carefully combined with minimal items but sings the way to your heart. Affordably priced at about Rs 200, We tried out Ghar ka khana – Rice with dal makhana, aloo jeera and salad and Paneer Butter Masala masala – Roti with Paneer butter masala. Simply awesome, drool worthy simple food – there were about 8+ combos in Veg section.

Another item, we want to strongly recommend trying out is the Malabar connection – flaky Malabar barotta with veg kuruma. For non-veg lovers, there is kozhi kurma available. My husband, a barotta lover, is too choosy about his food. Café central is his favorite restaurant for his barota now. and if you feel the kuruma cannot be wasted, opt for the extra barotta which is available.

The time we went, there were new items on the menu. Coming to expect excellence from them, we were not hesitant to try out the Arancini Biriyani balls. Crunch outer with soft and succulent biryani inside was a surprise package. Do try it out.

Soft succulent baos – in-house made baos, a big plus with exotic veggies – number of options available. Light and satisfying baos. Again, a must try.

French fries with a twist – milaga podi with ghee tossed with Karuveppilai was innovative – The big Plus of this restaurant is their concentration on the local palate and making sure

Now to the trendy youth crowd, Customization is available everywhere and burgers, sandwich, pizza, titbits, kabab central, magical Maggie, fries, pasta, sizzlers, grill &BBQ and a huge list of shakes, smoothies, cold press, soda, desserts and again a HUGE PLUS – hot beverages that carries filter Kaapi and masala chai too. The must for every true Chennaiite.

We would love to go on and on but we might end up pulling out the first hand experience from you. This is a must try place and rest assured we will never be disappointed.
