The gateway to the Chamba Valley, Dalhousie was established in 1854 by the British governor-general Lord Dalhousie. Covering an area of 14 sq.-km and surrounded by alpine vegetation, Dalhausie has enticing architecture and unobstructed views of both plains and the snow-capped views of the mountain ranges, surrounding it.
This place provides stunning views of plains and snow-capped mountainous ranges. It is situated towards the western edge of the hills and east of River Ravi. Old colonial-era buildings, low roofed stalls and hotels dot the town while paths and treks on slopes with alpine vegetation are excellent for short strolls. Gifted with natural beauty, Dalhousie attracts many tourists every year. Its natural surroundings and tourist attractions have rapidly increased travel and tourism here.

How To Reach: 92-km From Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh

Dalhousie, a hill station located in Himachal Pradesh, is an ideal tourist destination, mainly for its healthy climate and naturally beautiful location. The place is spread over an area of around 14 kilometers area and is built on five hills - Kathlog, Potreyn, Tehra, Bakrota and Balun.

(1) The nearest airport is at Gaggal, Kangra, 140-km from Dalhousie.

(2)The Road well connected: Pathankot to Chamba and Dalhausie is by road. Punjab and Himachal Roadways run services, as do private operators.

(3)Road : Dalhousie is 485 km by road from Delhi and 52 km from Chamba.

(4)The closest railhead is Pathankot-80 km away. Taxis and buses are easily available from these places.

You can see some beautiful Scottish and Victorian architecture in the bungalows and churches that were built by the British government. From this beautiful town, you can also view the spectacular snow-covered Dhauladhar range. The river Ravi flows with its twists and turns below Dalhousie like a long silver line.

Satdhara : These are seven springs, reputed to have great therapeutic value as they contain mica with medicinal properties. Satdhara is on the way to Panjpulla, at an altitude of 2,036 m.

Kalatop: A peaceful spot away from the busy city, this place is 8.5 kms from Dalhousie. There is a forest rest house here for accomodation. You can travel by bus to this place from Dalhousie.
