Is Managua International Airport, Nicaragua Good?
Today we’re going to be talking about Managua International Airport in Nicaragua. Are you guys ready for an adventure? Let’s begin.
Managua International Airport is literally the only international airport in Nicaragua. It is small, and very easy to get around the airport, which makes it that much simpler. It is modern, it works really fast, and there’s an easy system.

What’s fascinating, is that Nicaragua has so many issues with not enough flights, and not a lot of airlines flying, which makes it kind of an unfortunate thing. There are many flights that leave super early in the morning, like around five in the morning. And it is absolutely incredible, the entire airport is completely buzzing and open and stores and everything you need are there.
I had a 5:00 a.m Flight, and I was really concerned that I would have to sit outside because a lot of airports don’t even open until like four in the morning. I had to arrive there at three in the morning, no problem at all. It was a very smooth wait.
Security
Everything went really smoothly with security. I have to say, though, security is the laxest security I have had in any airport in any country.
It was amazing, absolutely amazing. Because then I went on to El Salvador and you can listen to a whole episode about that airport. And they are the strictest and probably one of the dumbest systems I’ve been through. But you need to understand that as well because Managua and Nicaragua are not like the high point.
No Direct Flights
You will most definitely have to have a connection in El Salvador to pretty much go to any other spot.
There are very few direct flights from Managua, so make sure you go and listen to the El Salvador airport podcast because that is very important even though you think that you’ve already just gone through the whole security system, you do have to go through the whole thing in El Salvador and that could be a real pain in the butt.
Other than that, Managua was a very enjoyable airport. As I said, even at four in the morning, everything was available, it was smooth and fun.
