Why You Should Consider Retiring in Playas del Coco Costa Rica

For many people who love to travel, Costa Rica has become a dream destination. From the idyllic climate and breathtaking scenery to its overall laid-back atmosphere, it is no wonder why tourists flock to this Central American paradise throughout the year. However, a recent survey shows that Costa Rica is also one of the top places for retirement. More and more retirees have chosen to make it their permanent residence for many reasons. And while you consider the spectacular beaches, ocean waves, and the many places to explore here, there is so much more to living in this country than you can imagine.

Playas del Coco is one of the most popular areas in Costa Rica that beckons more retirees to take up residence there. It is located in Guanacaste, and it is one of Costa Rica’s oldest beach communities with a large number of expat residents and many more thinking of moving there permanently. While Guanacaste is home to numerous beach communities, Playas del Coco still ranks high among the most popular places to live in. Known in the past as a flourishing fishing village, it has since evolved into the center of culture, entertainment, shopping, vibrant nightlife, and dining establishments, not to mention various freshest fish you can find.  It is also about 30 minutes away from Liberia’s Daniel Oduber International Airport. Additionally, Playas del Coco is near the San Rafael the Archangel Hospital where cosmetic surgery is offered to visitors and retirees who are interested in these services.

This large village is organized, developing through the years into a self-sufficient community that offers every convenience to locals and visitors alike, and much more. The city is bustling with life despite its peaceful environment. There is so much to see and do here. Housing is not a problem, plus everything in the community is a walk away from the beach. The locals are warm and friendly, most of them dependent on their tourism industry, making them more welcoming of foreigners who visit or decide to stay permanently in their community.

Weather

This particular region of Costa Rica is blessed with beautiful sunny weather that is perfect for beach lovers and those who enjoy scuba diving, snorkeling, wind sailing, and many more. Many tour operators are ready to offer their services for these activities. Sportfishing is another popular activity that locals and foreigners enjoy to the fullest, and the climate is perfect for it. Playas de Coco has a rainy season, too that doesn’t last for too long. Still, it presents the landscape at its loveliest, where you can feast your eyes on the beautiful shades of green around you. The average temperature here throughout the year is about 70-80 degrees, making it comfortably warm to enjoy the surrounding waters. Still, everyone can enjoy the beaches as it is not that hot. March marks the hottest season and culminates in May when the crisp breeze cools the area. More tourists flock to the area during the dry season though anytime is an excellent time to be there.

Lifestyle

While daytime at Playas del Coco is more easygoing, there are still many activities that travelers and residents alike can enjoy. Because of its popularity, roads were constructed to make it easy to travel to shops, markets, dining places, and casinos. There are islands nearby to visit and national parks that offer an opportunity to see sharks when scuba diving and catch a glimpse of marine turtles as they nest on the area’s beach. Tour operators are ready to take people horseback riding, go scuba diving, sport fishing, and many more. There is no shortage of restaurants offering various dishes to please the palate, such as Papagayo Seafood, El Anclar, and Coco Palms at the Pacifico retail mall. The nightlife is alive with music from al fresco bars and other nightclubs scattered around the town, playing various music genres that add to the festive air. Bar-hopping is a favorite pastime for anyone who wants to experience the high energy of the beach community at night. Pizza joints and sandwich bars are all over for snack lovers, and ice cream and gelato shops are ready to serve mouth-watering sweets to anyone craving a mouth-watering treat.

Modern conveniences

Living in Playas del Coco is like living in a home away from home. The town offers many conveniences and amenities to make life easier for its residents and visitors. Along the main boulevard, one can easily access supermarkets complete with anything you need, bank, police station, church, and the post office. Pharmacies are all over the place, taxi service to move around the area, and souvenir and dive shops. The medical clinics offer the best medical care, 24-hour emergency services, and ambulance service, ready for emergencies.

Real Estate

Each year, countless tourists show interest in buying a home or a vacation rental in Playas del Coco, known as Costa Rica’s gateway town to some of its premier real estate developments. Because of its primarily dry weather, rich cultural diversity, and proximity to the Liberia International airport, real estate has grown significantly in recent years. Additionally, its surrounding beaches and numerous international developments have made Playas del Coco gain even more popularity due to its perfect location and most sought-after affordable real estate. It is impossible for visitors not to fall in love with it and consider taking up permanent residency. Properties are designed with resort living as its central focus. For property buyers, the idea of living here or keeping vacation homes to visit regularly is primarily because of the many amenities offered by complexes, including beautiful landscaping, private pools, reliable Wi-Fi service, maintenance, and 24-hour security services. With all of these great conveniences, it is not surprising that Playas del Coco continues to be the ideal place to live and retire.

If you are looking at retiring in a place where you can spend a peaceful, stress-free life, Playas del Coco is well worth considering. Surrounded by the beauty of nature while still enjoying today’s essential amenities and conveniences, there is nothing to look forward to but the best days ahead in this fantastic place you now call home.
