Mexico is a relatively inexpensive country to travel to. It was for this reason that hundreds of thousands of tourists came here every year. What is the current situation with Mexico tourism? Can I Travel To Mexico?

Since December 2020, Mexico has officially lifted all restrictions on international flights and opened its air borders to foreign tourists.

Popular tourist resorts of Cancun, Playa de Carmen, Tulum, Isla Mujeres, and consumers are ready to welcome guests again and delight them with the warm sun and turquoise ocean.

The current rules for entering Mexico in 2021 do not require a negative result of a PCR test for coronavirus infection. To enter the country, it is enough to fill out and print out a form using a QR code, in which you need to specify contact details, health status, and information about previous trips in the last 30 days.

Arriving passengers can receive and fill out the Covid form on the plane en route to Mexico, on arrival before passing through passport control, or online in advance. The online form must be completed no earlier than 24 hours before arrival at the airport in Mexico.

For domestic or departing from Mexico flights, the form must be completed before boarding. Without this, you will not be allowed to land. You do not need to print out the form filled out on the Internet, just show the received barcode from the smartphone screen.

The electronic application form is mandatory and is filled in when the passenger already has information about the boarding place, but no later than 12 hours before departure.

There is no quarantine on arrival. In most cities of Mexico, hotels, beaches, restaurants, parks, and attractions are open.

Get The Mexico Tourist Card

A visa to Mexico is not required for citizens of some countries. You need to get a Mexico Tourist Card – an electronic permit to enter the country, which is valid for 30 days from the date of issue. The result will be sent to your email address. You will need to print it out and show it to the migration officer.

Make sure to get the Tourist Card online as most airlines are no longer handing out the Tourist Card.

Tourists can stay in Mexico without a visa for 180 days based on an electronic entry permit with the possibility of extension in fact for up to 60 days. If there is a need to stay for a longer period, you will have to apply for a visa.

Citizens of 131 countries around the world need a visa to visit Mexico, and it can only be obtained at one of the country’s 130 consular offices abroad. At all airports in Mexico, you will need to:

· Present a valid passport (the validity period of the passport must be at least 6 months from the date of the end of the planned trip);

· Show a printed electronic entry permit;

· Fill out the migration card and save it until the end of the trip;

· Provide a printed and completed health questionnaire.

When traveling to Mexico with a minor child, you must have a child’s or adult’s passport with a photo of the child and information about it (possible for children under 14 years old).

In some cases, you may be required to show the original birth certificate of the child (if the parent and child have different surnames) and notarized permission from the parents to leave the minor from your country (when the child travels without them).

Travel to and From the USA from Mexico

Certain restrictions for tourists exist on the land border with the United States. At the border crossings of the states of Sonora, Chihuahua, and Tamaulipas, tourists can be denied entry. However, this is an initiative of the authorities of these states, justified by the high level of morbidity in neighboring US states.

It is worth noting that the incidence of coronavirus in the United States, especially in the states bordering Mexico, remains extremely high, and the governors of the northern states of Mexico have repeatedly raised the issue of restricting entry from the United States to curb the s of coronavirus.
