What We Loved About Barbados

As I mentioned last week, my husband and I had the chance to travel to Barbados to celebrate our anniversary. We are back now (sadly!) but we came home with many wonderful memories of our stay at Sandals Royal Barbados. We loved every minute of our visit there last week, and rather than tell you about it, I thought it would be more fun to show you some of what made our visit so special and memorable.

Located in the St. Lawrence’s Gap area, Sandals Royal Barbados and its sister resort, Sandals Barbados, are just stunning, with lush tropical vegetation and many walking paths, quiet nooks, and comfy places to relax. And as the two resorts are literally right next door, it was easy to go back and forth – which we did many times! At Sandals in Barbados, when you “stay at one, you play at two”!

Our room was beautiful and spacious, with a balcony overlooking one of the resort’s “crystal lagoon” (which was a relaxing and peaceful place to swim besides the many pools at the two resorts). We also loved the fully stocked bar and frig, with water, juice, soda, beer, as well as wine and liquor – all standard and at no additional cost for club and butler level rooms. (Ours was club level).

The food was fabulous and there are SO many options from elegant restaurants, to places for quick bites or snack, to buffets, as well as multiple bars, coffee, and smoothie stations. In fact, there are more than 20 dining options between the two resorts, with pretty much any kind of food you can imagine – and it’s all included at no additional charge! There was even a donut shop that we may or may not have visited a half-dozen times or so.

The beach and pools were ahhmazing in every way. From quiet coves to lively pools with a DJ, soft sand beaches, and roof-top infinity pools – there was something for everyone.

While water activities like boating, snorkeling, and kayaking are obvious activities that are available for everyone to enjoy at no charge, there were many “land activities” as well. Guests who were looking for non-watery fun could find things like volleyball, shuffleboard, pool, ping-pong, a variety of board games, and there’s even bowling! And of course, guests can also enjoy the spa, as well as a gym (to work off all those donuts!)

Barbados stole our heart and the staff at Sandals Royal Barbados truly pampered us in every way. The island and its people were warm and gracious hosts, and we can’t wait to visit again! For anyone looking for a fabulous place to get away from the cold this winter or a relaxing spring break getaway – Barbados would be the perfect destination!
