Where can you travel after getting the COVID-19 vaccine? Here’s a list of countries that are currently open to vaccinated travelers.

With COVID-19 vaccination programs in full swing around the world, travel could be making a comeback. A number of countries have already reopened for tourism or are planning to welcome Vaccinated travelers from around the world once again.

This is a complete list of the countries that are allowing access to travelers who are fully vaccinated, waiving quarantine and testing requirements. Here’s a look at a what their current travel requirements are and where to get up-to-date info for each destination. For safety advice, please refer to my article on how to travel safely during the pandemic.

Countries Open to Vaccinated Travelers

Belize

Belize is a small country in Central America that offers both sandy Caribbean beaches and dense jungles. It was the first country in the Caribbean to open its borders to vaccinated tourists in January 2021. Check their tourism board’s website for COVID-19 updates.

If you’ve had the vaccine, you should wait at least two weeks after your final dose to travel to Belize. You won’t need to show a Negative Pcr test or quarantine upon arrival. If you haven’t been vaccinated, you’re required to present a negative PCR test taken within 96 hours of your flight or a negative rapid antigen test taken within 48 hours of your flight. Children under 5 are exempt.

All travelers need to download the Belize Health App and fill out the required information at least 72 hours before you enter Belize.

Croatia

Since 1 April 2021, all travelers are allowed to enter Croatia if they present a COVID-19 vaccination certificate (the final dose must be administered at least 14 days before arrival), without having to quarantine.

Those not vaccinated can also skip quarantine if you present a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken no more than 48 hours before your flight (if it’s a rapid test, a second test must be taken 10 days after the initial test if your stay in Croatia is longer than 10 days). Children under seven years of age are exempt.

Check the Croatian Ministry of Interior website for updated info. For more info on how to travel safely during COVID-19, please refer to this post.

Cyprus

Cyprus has categorized countries into green, orange or red zones. If you’re coming from a country in the green category (Singapore, Australia, Thailand), no COVID test or quarantine is needed.

For all other travelers, you’ll need to present a negative PCR test even if you’re vaccinated. Those in the orange category can request to have their test directly at the airport in Cyprus (around 30 euros). Check for the country categories here.

Regardless of where you’re coming from, you need to complete the CyprusFlightPass within 24 hours of your travel. You’ll need to quarantine until you get the results of your PCR test.

Ecuador and the Galapagos

As of 22 March 2021, Ecuador is also opening its doors to vaccinated travelers of all nationalities. You will still need to show a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours of your flight to enter the country, along with your vaccine certificate. Children under the age of 2 are exempt from this requirement. Check their health ministry’s website (Spanish) or the US Embassy in Ecuador page.

You can also visit the Galapagos Islands, which is part of Ecuador, if you’ve been vaccinated and can show valid travel insurance. When you arrive, you’ll need to produce a negative PCR test taken within 96 hours of your flight. This means that you’ll need to take a test in Ecuador if you plan to visit the Galapagos more than 4 days after your first test.

You’ll also need a safe passage document (Salvoconducto) issued by the Ministry of Tourism, but you can get that easily from a tour operator. Be sure to fill out a Transit Control Card at the airport and a Traveler’s Declaration of Health upon arrival.
