Looking for a gift for someone who loves to travel? Here are 45 of the best travel gifts for any travel addict, regardless of your budget.

As a full-time Travel blogger with over 10 years of experience on the road and 130+ countries under my belt, I’m an expert when it comes to the best travel gear, travel-themed collectibles and the latest travel tech and gadgets.

I’ve compiled this list of Best Travel Gifts for 2019 specifically to include the latest in technology, innovation and design. Forget about the lame moneybelt or notebook — these products are practical and foolproof, and things that travelers would actually use. I’ve tested almost every item on this list and have included only products that I personally use and recommend.

All the items listed here can be found on Amazon, so you can buy them all from the comfort of home. They’re divided into different categories, so you can easily find gifts for men, women, kids and so on. My personal favorite is the home decor section — all the items there can be found in our house!

Happy shopping!

Best Travel Gifts for 2019

Best Travel Gifts under $25

1. Scratch Off World Map Poster

This is the one home decor item that every traveler wants! I have one myself and it’s great fun to come home from a trip and scratch off a new country each time. My friends got me this when we moved to Amsterdam and I definitely think it’s the best travel gift anyone can get. The scratch off map is a perfect framable size, at 24×17 inches. I hang it on a cork board with push pins, where I also pin souvenirs or memoirs (like bus tickets) from each trip. It’s such a great way to keep travel memories alive!

2. Adventure Fund Suitcase Bank

This vintage suitcase bank makes a great travel gift for those who are saving for their next big trip! I have one of these on my desk, always reminding me to save more. The piggy bank is made of wood but has a clear glass front so you can see your progress. It’s quite small, so it doesn’t take long to fill it up. I also love the whole vintage suitcase design.

3. World Map Canvas Tote Bag

I fell in love with this canvas tote bag in a travel bookstore and decided to buy it online (much cheaper!).  It’s very versatile and can be used as a shopping bag, grocery bag, or normal daypack. I use it most often when I’m at home, out and about in the city. The bag is made of high quality canvas and is rather strong.

The awesome que collapsible water bottle is designed for travel and the outdoors. I use it on most of my trips these days and really love how small and convenient it is to carry around. Best Travel Gifts for Women

7. Osprey Women’s Backpack

I’ve tested hundreds of packs throughout my years of being a travel blogger. Without a doubt, Osprey has the best backpacks in the market. The Osprey Tempest 30 is the best hiking daypack you’ll find. It’s got a smart design, with easy-to-access compartments, trekking pole attachments, hydration sleeves and hip belt pockets. This is perfect for the hiker in your life. I wouldn’t recommend buying a backpack that’s bigger than this for someone else, as you’ll need to make sure it fits the person.

8. Vaude Albert Shoulder Pack

This is my absolute favorite gear these days as I carry this everywhere I go, even when I’m not traveling. It’s comfortable to carry, and is small and lightweight. But still big enough for a Kindle, camera, wallet, passport and accessories. I wouldn’t recommend using it as a camera bag as there are no cushioning for SLR cameras. It’s particularly good for cyclists.

9. ONA Camera Messenger Bag

The ONA Camera bag is both stylish and functional. I’ve never had one but quite a few of my friends who have used it rave about it. It’s particularly suitable for female travelers who travel with an SLR and still want to look good. It also has other compartments for things like your iPad, wallet and keys. I can imagine that this would be perfect for all kinds of trips, from city breaks to African safari and long-term travel.

17. Kids World Map Wall Decal

My 3.5-year-old daughter loves the world map as much as I do! We have this world-map decal on her wall that she loves looking at (she can point out all the continents now!). I highly recommend buying this for any kid — whether you’ve traveled with them or not. It’s a great way to teach them world geography and let their imagination run free. This world map decal is easy to install (just peel and stick) and includes a dry erase marker. So kids can draw animals or anything they want on the map and still be able to erase them away.

18. Plush Animal Travel Neck Pillow

Which kid wouldn’t love a plush animal neck pillow? Cloudz is our favorite brand for kids’ travel stuff. We’ve bought this as well as a travel blanket and other small items for Kaleya from this brand. Kaleya travels with this plush animal neck pillow on almost every trip and it helps her get comfortable and sleep on the plane. It’s soft, lightweight and easy to carry — we just pop it into her Trunki or hang it outside our backpack.

19. Travel Activity Kit

For kids aged 4-10, this is the best travel gift you can get them! The travel activity kit acts like a laptop style desk, with lots of writing and craft accessories that will keep them entertained for hours. We try our best not to give Kaleya the tablet when we’re flying or driving, so this works as a really good alternative. Inside the carrying case are 8 washable markers, crayons, pencils, a creative pad with doodle and construction papers, glue, eraser and a pair of scissors. It’s a godsend for anyone with kids really!

20. Passport Sticker Books

My daughter is obsessed with passports. Everytime we travel, she wants to play with her passport and look at her stamps (perhaps she got that from me!). She knows our passport is our ticket to the world. That’s why when I saw this online, I was super excited cos I know she would absolutely love it and I was right! This collection of 12 passport sticker books is great fun for little travelers who like stickers and scrapbooks.

21. Trunki Luggage

We bought the Trunki luggage for our daughter when she was only one and she still uses it now at 3.5 years old. Kids can ride on it (holding on the horns), making it convenient to carry them around. It’s also very functional cos almost everything we bring for Kaleya fits in there, whether we’re on a 2-week African Safari trip or a short weekend trip in Europe. The Trunki can hold weight up to 75lbs so it definitely lasts for quite a few years.

22. Beginner’s World Atlas

I’m a big fan of books from National Geographic Kids and Lonely Planet Kids. They’re very educational, fun and playful. I bought this book last year for Kaleya and it was a great introduction to the world for her. It’s jam packed with bright, bold images, large maps, and lively information about the world’s land, people, and animals. The Beginner’s World Atlas is suitable for kids ages 5–8.

23. Safari-Themed Sticker Book

Kaleya has a few of this Lonely Planet Kids’ series of sticker activity books and she absolutely loves them. We bought this particular safari-themed sticker book right before our South Africa trip to get Kaleya excited about it. She also brought it on the trip and we used it everywhere, even on the safari keep. This is definitely an excellent companion to have if you’re going on an African safari with kids. You don’t have to pick a safari themed one — there are also ocean, jungle and savanna themes. Lonely Planet Kids has a lot of interesting titles, including the Adventures Across the Globe sticker book that covers interesting places around the world.

Best Gifts for Travel Tech Lovers

24. New Kindle Oasis e-Reader

I used to prefer print books — I loved feeling the papers between my fingers when I read — until I was gifted a Kindle a few years ago. I was an instant convert. The Kindle is so light and you can store hundreds of books in there — many of them for free. This new Kindle Oasis e-reader is even better: it is waterproof, and has a large, high resolution display so it feels like you’re reading real paper without the glare. You can also listen to the world’s largest library of audiobooks on the Oasis. A single charge lasts weeks, not hours. Gone are the days of lugging big heavy books on my trips!

Drone photography is becoming the hottest new thing — every photographer I know is trying to get their hands on a drone. Rest assured you won’t have the same problems as we did! The DJI Mavi Pro is small, portable and powerful. It’s as tiny as a water bottle, but can fly up to 40mph speed and have a flight time of 27 minutes. I remember the first time I got a GoPro: it was life-changing. GoPro has since made a huge name for themselves. The newest GoPro hero 7 has gimbal-like stabilization — without the gimbal. It predicts your movements and corrects for camera shake to deliver insanely smooth footage. It’s rugged and waterproof without a housing and the new model also has voice control. That means you can use voice commands like”GoPro, take a photo” and it’ll start shooting!
