What's Blooming at Carderock?

This Wednesday we led a bunch of homeschoolers on a Walk out on the Billy Goat C trail and then took our own walk on Billy Goat B. I suspect after yesterday's warmth things are even farther along, but here are a few of the things we saw just starting to spring forth in Spring!

At first glance, there's not much sign of life.

Harbinger of spring (Erigenia bulbosa).

Spring Beauty (Claytonia virginica). See our post on spring beauty here.

Bittercress (Cardamine sp.). See our post on bittercress here.

Maple (Acer sp.). See our post on maple flowers here.

Wood frog eggs. See our post here.

Spicebush (Lindera benzoin), about to bloom. See our post here.
