5th Annual Halloween at The Island

Eerie winds howling, scary creatures skulking, endless screams screeching…Halloween is creeping up on us, which means ghosts in the trees, costumes around every corner, and parents guiltlessly jump-scaring their kids. Instead of waiting around for your neighbors to hand out treats on Halloween night, why not start celebrating a few days earlier on October 28 (a suspenseful Saturday) by attending the 5th annual Halloween Carnival at The Island, a large shopping and entertainment complex in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., you and your family will get to experience classic circus sideshows, mysterious roaming dancers, and pure candy-eating bliss — all wrapped in festive decorations in Pigeon Forge!

Look Up, Look Around, and Look Out!
Feast your eyes on frighteningly amazing entertainment everywhere you look! From high-flying acrobats and stealthy stilt walkers to crafty contortionists and an enchanting juggler, the circus is here — and it’s all around you! As you explore The Island in Pigeon Forge, visually stunning acts will guide your every step. More suited to tricks than treats, a magnificent magician will captivate your mind and bewitch your senses. As still as a corpse, a skilled statue performer will put your perceptive abilities to shame. Witness the wicked transformation of a talented traveling act into a haunted circus caravan, dripping with dancing delights throughout the venue. As a pro tip, take a ride on The Island’s Great Smoky Mountain Wheel to see all the sensational sights with a bird’s-eye view. This event is clearly a must-see, so don’t let this night of thrills, chills, and spooky performances vanish before you get a chance to see it!

Costumes and Contests and Prizes, Oh My!
Looking for a deal on this spooky night? Well, if you come dressed as a ghoulish ghost, a blood-thirsty vampire, a menacing monster, a witty witch, a nimble ninja, or even Captain Jack Sparrow, you’ll receive ½ off an unlimited rides pass (or ½ off an unlimited rides pass plus ropes course), which means you can ride rides all day long for half the price — just for wearing a fun costume! What’s more, this offer goes for everyone in your group, so be sure to get the kids awesome Halloween costumes this year, and don’t forget to invite your enthusiastic cosplay buddies. As a bonus, the Island Stage will host a costume contest at 6:30 p.m. for all ages (no registration required). The friendly contest will be divided into 8 categories (see below for costume ideas) to give everyone a fair chance to win a prize!

  • 0-2 (A little pumpkin, Winnie the Pooh’s “hunny” pot, a ladybug…the adorable possibilities are endless.)
  • 3-5 (A girl is never too young to wear her first Disney princess dress!)
  • 6-10 (Your son can dress up as his favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle or Power Ranger.)
  • 11-15 (Traditional Halloween costumes are always nice to see: witch, skeleton, ghost, vampire, pirate, zombie, fairy, etc.)
  • 16-20 (Channel your inner superhero — you know the one.)
  • 21+ (Make your boyfriend dress up as Mr. Darcy to match your portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet, or make your girlfriend cosplay as Carol Pelletier to slay the dead together — with you as Daryl Dixon.)
  • Family/Group (Find your group costume inspiration from popular series like Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter.)
  • Pets (Dress up with your pet as Dorothy and Toto or Billy and Gizmo.)

    Dance Party After Dark
What better way to end the evening than with a spooktacular dance party hosted by the night’s ringmasters?! Get down like a goblin, shake your monster tail feathers, twirl like a ballerina, sway like a ghost, and shake a zombie leg — carefully. In preparation for this groovy time, listen to Halloween classics, such as “Ghostbusters,” “Monster Mash,” and the infamous “Thriller.” Plus, games and giveaways — from Coca-Cola, no less! — await at this spine-tingling ball.

    Freakishly Fantastic Freebies
Nothing’s better than getting free stuff for Halloween — and we don’t just mean candy! Parking and admission for the Halloween Carnival are FREE to the public! With this being such a popular event, be sure to arrive early for a good parking space. Gather your group and head over to the Selfie Studio to take FREE pictures! You can even print, text, email, or share them on social media directly from this modern machine. Last, but certainly not least, go trick-or-treating for candy with the kids around The Island for — you guessed it — FREE! What a great way to celebrate Halloween in Pigeon Forge!
