This Mother’s day, do something you’ve never done before! Something, that is sure to surprise your Mom! Yes, enter the kitchen and cook up a storm! Are you worried that you’ll burn the house down? Well, time to be brave! And, we’ve got you covered with some really easy recipes that are sure to make your Mom go “Aww!” So, we are telling you one breakfast, one main course and one dessert recipe that you can try out on 14th May 2017!

Breakfast – Scrambled Eggs with Buttered Toast and Cold Coffee

This has got to be the easiest breakfast food that barely takes up anytime!
What You Need:

Eggs
Ice
Bread
Salt
Sugar
Butter
Pepper
Coffee
Milk

How to Get Things Done:

1. Okay, first you need to tell yourself that you can totally do it!

2. Great. Now, to scramble those eggs – crack both the eggs in an empty bowl and just whisk the eggs with a fork till the yolk mixes with the egg white.

3. Add in a bit of salt and pepper to taste. If you want you can add a spoonful of cream or milk to make it fluffy and soft. That was simple right?

4. Heat a pan and grease it with butter, now slowly pour the mixture onto the pan and keep stirring it so it doesn’t stick to the bottom. Also, make sure the pan isn’t too hot – you need to scramble the eggs on a low flame as it doesn’t have to be fully cooked.

5. Remove the eggs from the pan while they are squishy and soft. See? That was fairly simple!

6. Now, just butter some toast and use a hand blender to whip up a tall glass of cold coffee! Now plate up everything beautifully on a tray, and serve the queen her breakfast hot and in bed!

Lunch/Dinner – Matar-Paneer & Paratha

Do not be intimidated by the name! It actually is quite easy to make! And it is so desi that your Mom will definitely be surprised!

What You Need:

Paneer

Peas

Tomatoes

Ginger
Chillies
Garlic Paste
Garam Masala
Turmeric Powder
Chilli Powder
Salt
Dhaniya

How to Get Things Done:

1. Okay now. Easy Peasy! Chop up a piece of ginger root, tomatoes and green chillies and grind them to make a paste.

2. Now, heat some oil in a wok, add the tomato paste and garlic paste to the wok. Cook this mixture for a few minutes till it changes color and the oil separates.

3. Now, add red chilli powder and turmeric powder to the masala paste.

4. Add water to the wok, as per the consistency you want in the curry and add salt –to taste.

5. Add the peas and let it cook for a couple minutes, then add garam masala, mix the curry properly, add paneer cubes and turn off the heat.

6. Garnish the curry with freshly chopped dhaniya leaves and serve hot!

7. Now, to roll those parathas! Don’t make rotis because if you don’t already know how to roll them round, chances are you’re hardly going to get it right on the first go! Better to just roll out parathas or boil some rice!

See, this really wasn’t that hard!

Dessert – Eggless Chocolate Cake

Baking is literally the easiest thing to do in the kitchen, chances of getting cut or burnt are really really low (unless you really are hopeless!) I’ve been Baking chocolate cakes using this same recipe since I was a kid, and this really is easy and the results – fantastic!

What You Need:

Flour
Baking Powder
Baking Soda
Cocoa Powder
Coffee
Oil/Butter
Sugar
Milk
Coke/Pepsi

How to Get Things Done:

1. I can’t stress enough on how easy this is! Start with the dry ingredients – sieve the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder and coffee (just a spoonful for giving the cake a dark color). Sieve the mixture 4-5 times.

2. In a bowl mix oil/melted butter with sugar. You can use a ladle to mix the batter or use a hand blender – which makes your job easier.

3. Now add the dry ingredients into the bowl in small installments. Add milk and pepsi as and when needed to maintain the consistency of the mixture so it doesn’t dry out.

4. Now, grease a baking pan, or line it with butter paper or you can dust it with some dry flour. Pour the batter onto the pan and bake it in the oven or microwave – I would suggest baking t in an oven.

Wasn’t that easy?

Brush your kitchen skills and please your Mom by whipping up a delicious meal for her! Be sure to clean the kitchen after you’re done – you know the consequences otherwise! All said and done, there is so much you can do to make her happy, just be sure to spend a lot of time with her and make her feel special not just on Mother’s Day – but every single day!
