Increasing Flights To China – Malaysia Seeks To Attract More Chinese Tourists In 2024

Tourism Malaysia is actively engaging in discussions with several airlines to establish direct flights connecting smaller provinces, or “second-tier cities,” in China and Malaysia. Datuk Ammar Abd Ghapar, the director-general of Tourism Malaysia, highlighted the importance of such direct flights in facilitating travellers from smaller regions in China to visit Malaysia without the need for domestic flights to major airports, thereby saving travel time.

Ammar also expressed optimism about foreign tourist arrivals in Malaysia, projecting a figure of at least 24 million for the current year. To support this growth, various plans to enhance and develop tourism products within the country are being implemented, including efforts to increase direct international flights. This will in turn bring in more guests to luxury resorts in Malaysia the likes of Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas resulting in increased revenue.
