Thailand Offers Visa-Free Entry for Tourists from China – Timely Move as Songkran Approaches

In a move expected to boost tourism, Thailand and China signed a mutual visa exemption agreement this year. Effective 1st March 2024, Chinese and Thai citizens can now enjoy visa-free entry for up to 30 days when they visit each other’s country. This decision follows a significant increase in travellers from China to Thailand during the recent Chinese New Year celebrations and the visa exemption is expected to further bolster arrival numbers.

The timing of this initiative is ideal as well with the popular Songkran Festival known for its fun water fights set to begin in April 2024 in key destinations such as Bangkok. Resorts located beside the Chao Phraya River such as Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort will provide an ideal base for tourists looking to experience this vibrant festival that marks the traditional Thai New Year. All this bodes well as Thailand anticipates welcoming an even greater influx of visitors in the months to come.
