Jamaica seeking to boost travel from the UK – Increase in market shares is the goal

Jamaica is set to intensify its efforts to expand its tourism market in the United Kingdom and Ireland, as revealed by Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett during the annual World Travel Market conference in London. Last year, Jamaica attracted approximately 229,000 visitors from the UK, securing its position as the top Caribbean destination for British travelers. Looking ahead, the island aims to surpass 250,000 combined visitors from the UK and Ireland by 2025.

During the conference, Bartlett emphasized the importance of building on Jamaica’s current success and leveraging partnerships with longstanding airline collaborators. The Minister’s optimism was echoed by Elizabeth Fox, Regional Director for the UK and Nordics at the Jamaica Tourist Board, who acknowledged the island’s gratitude for being the top Caribbean choice for British travelers. This could mean that businesses that provide Inter Caribbean flights such as the InterCaribbean Airways brand can foresee higher bookings as a result of the conference.
