I was staying at one of the best guest House according to the reviews of Tripadvisor and Booking.com users – Serene Sky Guest House.

Rooms in Serene Sky Guest House

I lived two days in Serene Sky Block B which is situated pretty far from the beach (A Block is closer). The guest house holds 4 bicycles which you can use for free. Deluxe Rooms are located in this Block and their main difference from the Standard Rooms are:

– there are windows facing the garden

– every room has an electric teapot

– the rooms are more spacious

– the bathroom is larger and the part of it is situated outside and surrounded by the walls (although you cannot tell it from the photo )

– the garden is larger and there’s a billiards table.

What concerns price it’s definitely 10-15$ higher.

Dining at the Guest house 

There’s a private kitchen in the guest house where everything is cooked. The quality of food is good as well as in any other guest houses from the average price range. Simple and delicious. That’s why I would rather recommend booking full board (breakfast and supper included).

As well as on any other local island the food does not vary considerably. In general it’s noodles (pasta with tuna and vegetables), pasta, rice and fish, a bit of fast-food is not an exception. There’s quite a lot of different kind of freshes. And of course there are plenty of fruit.

That’s because Thoddoo is the fruit capital of Maldives. Especially plenty of watermelons are grown in the summer months for the holiday of Ramadan. This business is so profitable that it allows the family to maintain itself for almost the whole year!

Activities in Serene Sky Guest House

Thoddoo is also famous for its beach, that’s a true fact. And no wonder because it’s really very long and well maintained. The only drawback it has is the lack of deckchairs. It’s only because there is no place to fit them in. That’s why they were replaced with the hammocks which are also a comfortable thing. Moreover there’s now a shower cubicle and a garbage container.

What is more they’ve just opened their new diving center (the closest building to the beach). The discount is provided to Serene Sky guests.

The greatest activity that is available for everyone is kayaking. This is the best option to see the island from the side and to reach the edge of the reef (it’s about 500 meters far from the beach) and to enjoy snorkeling to one’s heart’s content.

In conclusion, I want to say that there are 15 guest houses on the island, 5 more are under construction.

Here you pay for the high service and individual approach. Both together the guest house and its owners deserve to be among top 3 guest houses on the Thoddoo.

Transfer to Thoddoo

By a public ferry:

10 USD per person in one direction (it takes about 5 hours).

Departure from Male: every day at midnight (except Thursday and Friday).

Departure from the island of Thoddoo: every day at midnight (except Thursday and Friday). Arrival at the fruit market.

By a public speedboat:

40 USD per person in one way (it takes about an hour).

It is carried out every day, except for Friday

Departure from Male to the island of Todd: from 15:00 to 16:00.

Departure from the island of Thoddoo in Male: at 06:00 or 07.00.

Another option includes two ferries in Rasdhoo

By a public ferry:

Every Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday:

From Male at 9.00 to Rasdhoo (arrival at 12.10). From Rasdhoo at 15.15 to Thoddoo (arrival at 16.30).

Every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

From Thoddoo at 7.00 to Rasdu (arrival at 8.15). From Rasdu at 11.00 to Male (arrival at 14.10).

The Rasdu-Thoddoo and Thoddoo-Rasdu ferries run every day except Friday.
