Udawattakele Forest Reserve

Located in the beautiful city of Kandy, Sri Lanka, Udawattakele is a natural Forest Reserve that has won the hearts of both local and foreign travellers. Many are aware of the rare plants and trees you find here, but little do they know about the wildlife that can be spotted here.

Where is it?

It’s a given that you visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic during your stay at Hunas Falls Hotel Kandy or any other hotel in the area. So, this forest sanctuary is located within a very close vicinity to the Temple of Tooth Relic and yes, you can cover both these attractions in one go.

What’s so special about it?

According to every Kandy travel guide, Udawattakele is most famous for being home to ‘Pus Wela’ which dates back to 200-300 years. Spanning across an area of 257 acres are hundreds of different trees and plans among which trees such as ‘Tel Kekuna’, ‘Madatiya’, and ‘Ankenda’ acquire highlighted attention.
