Once a small village that earned its livelihood from Fishing and pearling, Al Wakra is the second-largest city in Qatar. It is also a great place to visit during your stay at one of the 5-star hotels in Doha.

If you’re travelling from Doha, you could catch the Route 109 and 119 buses to get to Al Wakra. Both of these buses leave from Doha’s Al Ghanim’ bus station.

Attractions

Dhow harbour is a great place to have a stroll, with much of Qatar’s fishing fleet in the backdrop. House of Sheikh Ghanim Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Manaratain Mosque are two other attractions in Al Wakra, which are located just 500 metres apart.

Where to Eat

Al Wakra simply brims with a range of splendid restaurants and the choices vary from Arabian and Lebanese to Chinese and Afghan cuisine. The Fish Market near Souq Wakra is a great place to pick fresh seafood, which would even be cooked for you right there.

Things to Do

Al Wakrah Family Beach, which is located within a 13-minute driving distance from Souq Al Wakra Hotel Qatar by Tivoli via Al Wakra Main Street, is a great place to hang out with your family with plenty of shade and barbeque pits. If you love fishing, Al Wakra Harbour is the place to be!
