History

After being designed by Argentine architect César Pelli in the year of 1992, rigorous planning and refinement went into the Petronas Towers. After a year of meticulous testing, the construction of the superstructure commenced during the year 1994. The construction process took almost 6 years to complete and was opened by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamadon on the 1st of August 1999.

World records

The twin tower remained the world’s tallest building till 2004 when Taipei 101 surpassed it by 56 metres. Still, the Petronas Towers holds the world record of tallest twin buildings and the sky bridge that connects both the towers retains the record of world’s highest two-story bridge.

Reaching there and accommodation options

Located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur, you could reach the towers from almost all the parts of the city by a taxi. But since KL is an expansive city, it will be easier if you had planned your stay at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur close to the tower the likes of Alila Bangsar Kuala Lumpur.

Attractions

Being a popular tourist destination, The Petronas Tower receives millions of visitors annually and the towers themselves have numerous attractions located within them. Some of the places you should consider visiting inside the tower are the KLCC observation deck, the Sky Bridge and the Petrosains, Discovery Centre.
