Sri Lanka’s Hidden Beaches

Sri Lanka is renowned worldwide for its enchanting and tempting Beaches, stretching along the island’s coastline. Southern Sri Lanka, in particular, boasts some of the most stunning beaches on the entire island, featuring picturesque views of lush palm trees, soft white sands, and inviting azure waters. Here are some of the more hidden beaches you can visit.

Jungle Beach in Unawatuna

While Unawatuna Beach is the most popular beach in the area, there is another secluded beach that is often missed out, Jungle Beach. It requires a fun little trek down a hill to get to, and once you do, get ready to be captivated by the incredible vistas at this beach. Located close to the Galle Fort, and hotels in Galle the likes of The Fortress Spa & Resort, your beach paradise is a short ride away.

The Secret Mirissa Beach

Hidden about 2 km away from the main beach, it is quite a nice place to relax in, away from the crowds at Mirissa Beach. The waves here are mostly rough, but upon further exploration, you can find three safe spots to wade in, namely, the blue lagoon, the shelly beach and the palm cove.

The Silent Beach

Located in the beach paradise of Tangalle, the silent beach, as you can guess, gets its name from the tranquil atmosphere surrounding it. Visited by few, the only ambience on this beach comes from the waves crashing against the beach shores. With the loveliest palm trees flanking the sandy beaches, it is the perfect romantic getaway.

Marble Beach in Trincomalee

Visitors are immediately attracted to the eastern coast of Sri Lanka for its pristine beaches. 16 km from Trincomalee, is a stunning hidden beach which can easily be among the best beaches in the world. The Marble Beach has sand as fine as a powder with the calm sea as smooth as marble. You can do several activities here such as diving and snorkelling, an excellent way to spend your time.
