Getting There
Bentota is located around 62 km from the commercial capital, Colombo. Those staying at beach hotels in Sri Lanka along the south coast such as Mermaid Hotel & Club can easily plan a trip here. If you are using public transport take the bus to Bentota town or the train to the nearby Aluthgama Station.
The Golden Beach
The long beach stretch offers a sun-kissed slice of shore bordered by palm trees. It’s the perfect place for sunbathing, fun family time or walks with that special someone during sunset. You can go swimming too, though be on the lookout for red warning flags which are posted when the sea is rough.
Water Sports Galore
Bentota has earned the title of being the country’s water sports capital. Many thrilling activities are available be it at sea or the nearby Bentota River. Snorkelling and diving excursions are available, while deep sea fishing, waterskiing, jet skiing, canoeing, windsurfing and banana boat rides are on hand too.

To complete your trip to Bentota Beach you can also look to enjoy some other local activities too. These include taking a boat ride along the Bentota River, exploring the Lunuganga and Brief gardens and visiting one of the turtle hatcheries close by.
