A Maldives Holidays During a Pandemic

In dire need of a holiday? If so, the Maldives is the ideal destination and is where you can enjoy a safe stay as well; here’s more on what you need to know.

Before Arrival

You should have a negative result of a COVID-19 PCR test taken within 96 hours before departure to the Maldives. Additionally, you must fill an online health declaration form within 24 hours before travel and submit it through the IMUGA portal (https://imuga.immigration.gov.mv/ethd/create). Since entry requirements can change, always check for updates at, https://tourism.gov.mv/

No Quarantine

You do not have to quarantine when you arrive, though strict health measures are in place. Visas are granted on arrival, but you will need a confirmed accommodation booking; an ideal choice is to stay at a luxury hotel Maldives has to offer on a private island which you can get to via speedboat or seaplane transfers.

Island Resorts

As mentioned, Island Resorts are great and will be limited just to the guests and staff. Properties such as Velassaru Maldives have also adopted enhanced sanitation and cleaning procedures in line with local and international health guidelines in rooms and public spaces with social distancing measures also in place.

Fun Activities

There are plenty of fun water sports in Maldives even during these times. Snorkelling and diving are not to be missed, while kayaking, wakeboarding, Seabobs and parasailing are also on offer. You may not be able to explore local islands, but you can still enjoy sunset and dolphin watching cruises and visiting secluded sandbanks too.
