What gear do you need for hiking?

Tags: travel trip hike

I hope you like active Travel same as me. During the years I have learned that you need to prepare for your trips, hikes and any activity in life. Once I went for a hiking in Grand Canyon in USA and didn’t have a hat! Imagine – +33 degrees, sun is shining, no shadow, you need to climb and your head is burning… Would not recommend this to anyone. So as you don’t do same mistakes as I did, I decided to write this post what kind of things are useful during the hike. Of course you don’t need to have it all, but please consider that most of them are really useful during the trip. I will add links to the products so it is faster for you to find it.

Tuga Adult Sol Wide Brim Hat (UPF 50+), Navy, Adult Medium
I know this hat is not the most sexy – but it can help you from bad sun burn of your neck and headache later. If you don’t have anything like this – any  Adjustable Plain Cap works or even a Long Scarf.

Banana Boat Sunscreen Sport Family Size Broad Spectrum Sun Care Sunscreen Lotion – SPF 50, 12 ounce
Sun block at minimum 50 SPF is a must have. If you travel with hand luggage you can always buy a big bottle and just put it to smaller travel size bottles. It is way cheaper than buy small sun block bottles. And trust me – 50ml of sun block will not work during the longer trip. When going for a hike – cover everything, even your ears.

LifeStraw Personal Water Filter for Hiking, Camping, Travel, and Emergency Preparedness
I am very used to drinkable water from the tap. But during the trip you most likely will not have this luxury. If you are going for a long hike it is heavy to carry too much water. In this case this personal water filter is a great solution. In some places you can find clean rivers or waterfalls but extra care was never a bad choice.

Venture Pal Ultralight Lightweight Packable Foldable Travel Camping Hiking Outdoor Sports Backpack Daypack (Orange)
This backpack is not for traveling long distances. This is meant to be for one day hike. So it is lite, not too big, foldable so you can fit it in your suitcase when traveling. In any trip take water, snacks, scarf, sun block, hat and other things you might need. Just not too much – you are the one that will cary it.

Hiking Backpack 70L Waterproof Ultra Lightweight
Or it can be like this one. It is bigger but still light weighted. It works if you are few people putting things in one place. To be honest I would travel with this kind of. If you travel light it is just perfect.

Adidas NEO Women’s Racer TR W Road-Running-Shoes
Shoes are also very important. I use these ones just brighter pink. And they have been great. So the best is to go with the shoes you know well. And of course – train a bit before the big hike.

ASICS Women’s Cushion Low Cut Sock
Even though you would not think about socks at the first place, but if you have suffered from bad ones once – you will know. Sometimes I put socks without thinking and I have some that after a long walk is so uncomfortable! For long walks it’s great to choose socks that are a bit more fluffy and you feet does not get that tired.

Anything to add? Let me know what your hike can not happen without.
