You might not have heard about her during your school years . At least this is the case for me . The contribution of medieval Muslim scientists to the European science is often ignored .Or if it could not be ignored it had been pretended it was of the Western culture . That was the case of Ibn Sīnā the Persian who got a Spanish name " Avicenna " in Europe to cover the fact of his Persian origin . He wrote the most important medical book of his age and it was impossible to ignore his works .
