How to shop for Toilets

Different types of toilets

The Toilet is one of the most visited places in your house. They sure aren't one of the beautiful things you'll ever purchase, but without one you might be in a bit of strife. Choose the suitable Water closet for your bathroom toilet.

1. Squatting Pan

The squatting pan called in many name as Indian pan, Orissa pan and also Asian pan toilet is the classic type of toilet. Day by day this classic toilet is replaced by modern water closet which gives more comfort. These squatting pans have several designs and varying design.

These types of Toilets are comparatively cheaper than the water closet type toilets. Squatting pan will not be directly connected to the drainage pipe line because the bad order will come in toilets. So squatting pan will be connected to the drain pipe by using an ‘S’ trap or ‘P’ trap. This trap will avoid escape of bad order from drain line by a water seal.

2)   European or Western Water Closet

This WC or EWC are designed to sit in toilet. This kind of toilets comes with seat & cover. A Western Style toilet will be attached with a flush tank for flushing after usage. Small amount of water will be trapped inside the toilet itself by water seal, normally this water seal height will be 50MM.

They take up a fairly large amount of space.

a) Wall mounted WC can be installed at any point in the bathroom that has a water source.

b) Here, tank is inside the wall cavity. The wall must be framed with at least 2 x 6 studs.

c) They require thicker walls to support their tank and carrier system.

a) The floor mounted WC is easy to install.

Price

Expensive due to their higher cost of production.

They are affordable

b) With the toilet tank concealed in the wall, it may be difficult to perform repairs when needed.

a) Because all components of a floor-mounted toilet are visible, they are easy to access when repair or maintenance is required.

Accessibility

The trouble with a back to wall toilet is the fact that you don’t have an easy access to the cistern.

Since the floor mounted WC is floor standing model, has the tap beneath the cistern, hence can be easily accessed.
