Living Room Update: Lighting

Remember this Lighting Round Up story from last week? As part of the Living Room Makeover project I’m currently working on, I needed a Lighting update. In a bad way….

See what I mean? The lighting in my living room was hideous before. Just a plain old ceiling fan, probably from the early 90’s. It wasn’t doing much at all for the space. And to be honest, turning it on just stirred up the dust that had collected on it. (Ewwww. I know.)

Las week, I showed you some pretty gorgeous options that i had been considering.

Based on your feedback (And comments from instagram and Facebook), the top favorites were:

This gorgeous Arteriors Home Zanadoo chandelier from Atg Stores

Then there was this gem. Also from ATG Stores.

And this globe number from ATG Stores. Also one of my faves. Unfortunately my ceilings just aren’t quite high enough.

But the all time favorite by far, (and my favorite, especially for this space in particular) is this one.

This beauty is from ATG Stores as well. It’s the Trans Globe chandelier, and it is a STEAL. It’s under $300 and has 9 lights. NINE! It lights up the room so beautifully. I just can’t wait to show it off in the “after” post I’m working on. The light bounces off the clear plates and adds so much to the room. I mean, there really isn’t much in the room right now as the furniture has all gone off to the upholsters, but trust me. It’s stunning. (Check back tomorrow for an upholstery update)

I managed to take a few photos before and after installation. It was pretty heavy, and we had to hoist it up on to a ladder while putting it together. (the couch in the background is one of the sofas that has gone off to be reupholstered. So don’t pay attention to the blue! That little baby is going to be all green soon!)

Isn’t it pretty! Uhhhhh. Photos just don’t do it justice.

Installation was pretty easy, but I’ll admit, I did have a professional come in and do it for me. This photo was taken before all painting had been completed. So don’t pay attention to the mis matched ceiling and trim. (Side note on the paint: Still SOOOOOOOOO happy with the Sherwin-Williams color I chose for the walls. All white all day. Boom!)

Ok back to lighting. The scale is PERFECTION. It’s just so perfect in this room. The house was built in the 20’s, and this chandelier fits the period perfectly. So art deco. So chic.

Plus, the brass… Oh the brass! It’s my favorite. And i’m just so happy with how it turned out.

Stay tuned for more living room updates coming next week. But I just couldn’t wait to show off this beauty!

* Thank you to ATG Stores for partnering with me on this piece. They offer simply the best options for lighting sources to fit many budgets. Plus their team was a dream to work with on choosing lighting. Check out their site here for beautiful lighting options as well as furniture too!
