Bringing it Back to the Old School

I’m such an old soul. From what decade? I really couldn’t tell you. Probably all of the above. On the weekend you can find me hitting up old buildings, estate sales, or hanging out with anyone who has a good story to tell.

Recently, on my regular Saturday Estate Sale run, I found the MOST AMAZING silk blouse. With…. (Drum roll please….)

SHOULDER Pads.

Yes. I’m being serious.

I remember my mom rocking the shoulder pads regularly. She’s always been really tiny. But boy, throw some shoulder pads on, and you look like a boss.

Its the one thing I think should be brought back. (Well, there are others, but this piece is about shoulder pads.)

They give any figure a more angular shape. And angles are good. At least in my mind.

Boxy, oversized shirts also give you the ability to “tuck” any way you please. Remember last week when I talked about the “front half tuck“? This week I’m trying something new with the “back tuck”. I still wanted to show a bit of my natural shape, but not look too flowy. Maybe this is how the “side tie” evolved in the ’80’s.

Shop this look in my shop here.

So, tell me. If you could bring back one thing from the 80’s, what would it be?

The Deets:

Silk blouse with shoulder pads {$75 Scout Shop} // Sunnies {$355 Prada} // Black Ripped Skinnies {Madewell $128} // Black pebbled monogram clutch {$178 GIGI New York}

Style Note:

Larger tops make legs appear thinner. They also hide.
