Garden Party

Today I’m sharing (what I think at least) is one of my most favorite (and affordable) design tricks. Three words people.

Library Book sale.

Most towns do them. Especially libraries in Small Towns. And usually in the Spring.

A few weekends back, I visited the Ranch for a little time away and to celebrate my grandmother’s 90th birthday. (Side note: She was SO surprised. Though we were slightly terrified we’d give her a heart attack)

Anyhoo. So we stopped into the local Book Sale. I’m working on a project that calls for all Green errrrrrrr-thang. The space has a gorgeous hand crafted built in bookshelf, and part of the mockup includes green books. Can you imagine, walking into a room and seeing nothing but green books in a range of hues? Uhhhhg. So excited.

So we walked into the the sale, peeling back every horrible book cover searching for books that had spines in a shade of green.

Luckily I had help. Because I left with literally hundreds of books. Everyone around me must have thought I was a crazy person. But I got them all for a steal. And all went to a wonderful cause. Back to the community.

So for those looking to dress up a bookshelf, checkout your local library. Give them a call and ask when their next sale is. They are all usually around the same time each year. Help out your community, plus make your home look way more interesting.

Check out my store here for a set of pre styled books I’ve put together for those who don’t enjoy the hunt.

Second side note: Have you ever noticed how gorgeous small towns are? They have the most wonderful buildings. After the party I couldn’t resist a few photos outside the Glass Mansion. It’s one of my favorite colours, plus it matched my dress!

A note about the Glass Mansion. It’s one of the most stunning buildings in town. And it’s a fantastic place to throw a party.

Plus, it has the most beautiful gardens surrounding it.
