Skincare Update

Over the years I’ve grown more conscious of my beauty regimen. Years ago, I was the last person you’d catch preaching about the benefits of serums. I used to think that primers were optional and that sunscreen was only a suggestion. But as I’ve gotten older, (and had more and more facialists give me the “You should know better” look, I’ve started to change my ways.

A few things that I’ve been swearing by lately are:

• Taking off my Makeup the second I walk in the door.

• “Trying” to not sleep on my face. (Ultimately, I always wake up face down smooshed into a pillow)

Eye Cream, Eye Cream, Eye Cream.

• Washing my makeup brushes at least every two weeks. (Although I’m sure more often is probably better.)

• And sticking to products that are not pumped full of things I can’t pronounce.

This week, I’m giving Tata Harper a try. And as if the pretty packaging weren’t enough to give their products a second glance… Just wait till you hear this…..

For starters, it’s 100% natural. Yes. It’s true. 100% natural. Everything is created from their farm in Vermont. No mystery ingredients or dodgy animal testing. 100% goodness.

Which is good. Because the products come at a pretty penny. But so far, from what I can tell, it’s worth the money.

At my last facial, I was gently reminded that I should be using primer as well as a good hydrator before applying my makeup. Not because my Skin is dehydrated, (I mean, it totally is. But that isn’t why I got the scolding) Her reasoning was this: “You don’t ever want to put foundation directly onto your skin. You just don’t know what ingredients are in makeup these days. You always want a barrier.”

Horrified, I’ve been 90% diligent every since. (Ok, ok, so some days I’m rushing to get to the office and I’m lucky if I even have time to put anything on at all.) But for a facialist to tell me that… She’s probably right.

So far my favorite out of the Tata Harper Skincare is the reparative moisturizer and restorative cleanser. Maybe it’s a placebo because I’ve been reading all these reviews lately, but I’m really in love guys.

At first I was worried about the cleanser. It didn’t feel as abrasive as my normal cleanser. It didn’t feel like it would get all of my makeup off. But surprisingly, it did. After washing my face, my skin felt smooth and clean, and really super soft.

I used the moisturizer directly after and, like I said, my skin is super dehydrated. I haven’t been drinking nearly enough water and I’ve been indulging a bit too much lately on the weekends. The moisturizer was light, smelled incredible, and didn’t make my skin feel oily or gross.

So overall, I’m a Tata Harper fan now. 100%. Oh. And Gwyneth Paltrow is a fan. If it’s good enough for Gwyneth, it’s good enough for me.
