Mavic Air 2 Compact Performance

DJI Mavic air 2

Mavic air 2 a new definition of a compact lightweight and more importantly effortless to use for aerial photography. Making this the perfect beginner Drone. DJI launched Mavic Air in 2018 with minimal fan fair. Yes, it was a small easy to use drone for the masses. The original Mavic air only used WiFi making its range much more limiting. Many would even say that this drone didn’t live up to the Mavic name.

On a completely different level than its previous generation just two years ago. This drone is now worthy of the Mavic naming structure. Moreover, I believe the Mavic air 2 is quite possibly the perfect beginner drone. Being basically a mini Mavic Pro 2 in a smaller easier to fly package. At less than $800 compared to Mavic Pro 2 at $1,599 nearly double the cost of Mavic air 2.

Mavic Air 2 Specs

These are some of the new features making Mavic air 2 an incredible consumer and professional drone. Having changed from being a WiFi-only drone and getting DJI’s 2.4/5.8GHz dual-frequency communication. In addition, having obstacle avoidance using forward, backward, and downward-facing sensors. making this drone a safe flying experience for all pilots.

Mavic Air 2 is the perfect beginner drone for new pilots to get started flying. Having Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS) 3.0 alerting the pilot anytime there is a human-crewed aircraft within range of the drone. Also, DJI gave Mavic air 2; it’s OcuSync 2.0. Giving you a video transmission distance of up to 10 km of which any pilot should only ever need maybe 30-40%.

If you have read my blog at all you will know that I am a huge GoPro fan. I loved the Karma drone and thought it had great potential, but GoPro decided that the drone industry was going to be to a battle they did not want. After owning the original Mavic and the GoPro Karma both of which I liked in certain ways. My main reason I liked the Karma drone “system”. Keeping all my small cameras in the same ecosystem was to me at the time was a benefit. Now two years later with DJI being the dominant leader in both consumer drones and arguably the commercial market as well. If you are not using a DJI drone you are just missing out. This is one of the reasons I choose to add a Mavic air 2 to my adventure gear bag.
