Getting started GoPro tips. Here is a familiar story I’ve heard. You are planning this fantastic vacation to Thailand, the Maldives, or some other amazing tropical local. A couple of weeks or days out you decide I need or want a GoPro camera to capture some banger Instagram pictures and videos. With the camera purchase made the next few weeks or days are hectic before this bucket list trip. Now with your new GoPro Still, in its packaging, it is packed for your trip. In your hotel room just hours before fantastic snorkeling, boating experience, you open it up. Get the battery in and all charged up. Power it on, oh it says there is a firmware update. Do you need this firmware update? You ask yourself. Yes!!

Ok, why is this the wrong way to start using your new GoPro camera? Like a lot of tech these days, you can’t just wing it and figure it out on the fly. Possibly there are a few tech items you could do this, GoPro cameras or any camera are NOT one of them. Not if you want to capture great video or photos with it. 3 Getting Started GoPro Tips

#1 Memory Card

Wait you said no other purchases. When purchasing a digital camera this is just part of photography in the modern era. Also, this is not an area to skimp on when it comes to 4k capable cameras. GoPro cameras can be a little finicky when it comes to memory cards. ALWAYS check the GoPro recommended cards list and DO NOT use a card that’s, not on it! I’m not saying that there are possibly some cards that arent and will work without issue. Get that card in the camera and format it.

#2 Get to know your camera

similarly, the only reason this was not #1 is that a memory card is needed to use your GoPro camera. An essential part of getting started GoPro tips for new owners! Learn how to navigate the interface, Find the settings that will best suit your needs. You may not always need to shoot in 4k all the time or at all. (I usually don’t) If you plan to edit on your smartphone or tablet shooting in full resolution 4k is not a wise choice. consequently, my goto resolution and frame rate for video is 2.7k 30 fps. Doing this allows me to upload to a phone or iPad for easy sharing on Instagram.

#3 Use your GoPro

This goes together with #2 I can’t state this enough. Getting started with your GoPro USE IT! To get the most out of your camera knowing how to use it sounds weird, but so many new users go out and expect it to work magic for them. You will not have videos like the GoPro launch video or any of their creations on your first try. Yes, GoPro cameras especially Hero8 are little slices of amazing once you know how to use them. We are in the digital camera age try a lot of stuff. If a photo or video doesn’t turn out erase and try again.

Use these getting started GoPro tips and you will have a better experience with your new camera. Now go out and capture some awesome footage.
