Designing life. And a heavy dose of gratitude.

This blog post will be a little more personal than my usual, so if you are here wanting to read about branding, or my usual rants on design, maybe you should just check back in, in a couple of weeks or so.

Up until 4 Years Ago, I thought I had life figured out. My business was doing great, the kids were healthy and thriving, everything was as dandy as can be. Or so it seemed. Then came divorce.
And then I met the most amazing woman I have ever known.
This blog is about her.

Her name is Nicole. We went on our first date a little over 4 years ago and we have never missed a text or call to each other ever since - give or take a day maybe. She is my best friend, my lover, my confidant, my soul mate, my wife. We both have children from our first marriages. I have twins, boy, girl and she has a girl. They are all the same age. I consider them all my own. My daughter and Nicole’s daughter are best friends. What are the odds of that? My wife is a designer who shares the same aesthetic as I. What are the odds of that? My wife treats my children as if they were her own. What are the odds of that?

What I know so far, is that the odds of finding someone so compatible are pretty farfetched. The Universe has its way of molding your life into something extraordinary, however, you need to be present and mindful for anything to happen. The Universe will also keep teaching you the same lesson until you master it. Through tribulations, slings and arrows, betrayal and redemption, our life is an Odyssey and we are all merely trying to navigate the turbulent Aegean waters. We are all in the same boat. People come into your life for a reason. God knows what my life would have been like, had I not met my soulmate 4 years ago.
Her resilience, her positivity, and her moral compass guide me every day.  Her altruism brushes on everyone she meets.  I always think of her as a little puppy always ready to show love and affection no matter what.
She is unwavering, unfaltering, unapologetic. That’s what I aspire to be more of.
She is compassionate, empathetic and loving. That’s what I aspire to be more of.
She is a rare human being, that treats everyone she meets with respect, dignity, and humility. That’s what I aspire to do more of.
Nicole is a designer. She named her company Design Life. How appropriate.
Talk about manifesting and creating your own future. Born to a single alcoholic mother who was never emotionally present, she has had her fair share of abandonment, abuse, and torment. Today she is a successful businesswoman, leading a full spiritual life with a loving family and a close-knit circle of loving and loyal friends.  I am just so blessed and grateful to be given the opportunity to partake in her truly amazing life. I am grateful for every given moment.
She always says, “you have worked hard to be where you are in life." No truer words have been uttered.
As I move forward in life, I know one thing for sure - life ain't easy. And your life can change in an instant. But having amazing, inspiring and positive people in it makes it less so.
We are all heading in the same direction. Let's at least make the journey a joyful one.

My dear Coley I cherish you more than you know.
