The Mind of Hermes

The mind plays tricks on itself when experiencing the constraints of 3D space/time, i.e. duality. Hermespersonifies a quality of mind that disobeys conventional behavior and in turn, becomes a consubstantial instrument in the orchestration of the creative act.

The Hermetic mind is conditioned to break the rules, confuse issues and push the envelope.  At first glance these infusions may appear to be malicious yet they possess the potential to produce a favorable result. The mind can be foolish, cunning and humorous in its’ desire to bring its intention to fruition. At times the mind has designs on fooling itself without its own knowledge.

This issue becomes apparent in our interpretation of Consciousness when certain forms of energy, light and information can be both felt and experienced while remaining oblivious to the mind. All the senses can play tricks on the mind. The field we prescribe as “the mind” is embraced within the parameters of a virtual Source, i.e. intelligence, that contains all the potential human experiences “imaginable”. Intelligence is conditioned into certain levels of consciousness by virtue of the imagination. Likened to the lyre, ideas and feelings that surround every symbolic tone allow for the concept of design to inaugurate an intimate link between the Source and the observer.

The mind can be both a joker and a trickster, incessantly changing roles when vacillating within the parameters of the intuition and the intellect. The design mind is quite clever, often mischievous and child-like, challenging the world with humor by using unorthodox means that will defend its position. The design (creative) mind will always appear to be rebellious in nature.

Poking fun at the status quo, the creative mind possesses a natural tendency to bring to the surface elements that appear flawed and in need of change. New methods and systems become apparent to an imaginative mind. The imagination's natural state is to question, ask why or why not, and investigate every situation. This course of action is a reflection of the desire of the mind to penetrate into the unconscious and take a glimpse of Olympus ... by means of the imagination. The Hermetic mind becomes the link between the worlds of the conscious and the unconscious by disguising that which is real through the imaginative use and application of the symbol.

Hermes is the personification of the mind, i.e. the medium that attempts to both engulf and transcend the threshold between Olympus and the Gaia, while simultaneously harboring the potential of becoming its own worst enemy. When passions surround meaning outweigh purpose major changes, i.e. transitions and transformations, can result. These meaningful events are typically Synchronistic in nature and typically divorce themselves from linear time.

Mind is a medium, i.e. a field, activated by the use of the interpretive power of the symbol brought forward and made apparent through the power of design. Synchronistic Events allow for insights into the unknown (unconscious). Synchronistic events bring revelation to consciousness through symbolic means.

Along with experience, design’s dependency upon the imagination creates the patterns necessary to bring a meaningful awareness to every synchronistic event. These imaginings are symbolically coded, interpreted as being representative of consciousness and are founded upon a greater intelligence (unconscious) from which they appear to have emerged. Every synchronistic event is subjective in character and designed to resonate within the mind of the perceiver in a fashion that will never be forgotten.

“He (Hermes) is a metaphor for the evolution of consciousness in the alchemy of time.”
