Blades of Glory fans will feel me on this blog title (in case you don't get the reference, I'm totally not a monster or anything), as will anyone who's ever tried the Dyson Supersonic... it's just that good. If you haven't heard the news yet, the vacuum giant released a hair dryer not long ago that's everything you would expect from the brand— flipping amazing, efficient, and fancy as hell. So if you're serious about haircare and have an extra five-hundo to blow (pun intended) on a dryer, then today's post is definitely for you.
Now this puppy would knock the socks off anyone (for example, my hairstylist uses one and totally swears by it; heck, Jen Atkins herself loves it!), but if you're a newb to such things as I was, you're really going to be impressed. In my sad, pathetic case, I was using my boyfriend's mom's cast-off dryer from the 90s— after my dinky Winners blowdryer broke— prior to acquiring this dryer. So to say I noticed a difference would be the understatement of the century. Now that I've had a taste of the good life (hair that doesn't take forever to dry! no frizz!), I don't think I could ever go back... here's the 411.
The Supersonic has something called 'intelligent heat control technology,' meaning it's designed to prevent extreme heat damage and protect hair's natural shine. That's because its temperatures are measured 20 times per second, and that data is transmitted to a microprocessor that intelligently controls the heating element to avoid reaching extreme, hair-damaging temperatures. I know, I know, the future is now. It also boasts Air Multiplier technology— by which air is amplified threefold— creating a high-pressure, focused jet of air for precise drying and styling. Ergo, no frizz.
Aesthetically, the Supersonic is compact and therefore both nice to look at and travel with. Its digital motor is about a third of the weight and half the size of that of other dryers (but just as powerful), and because of its compact size, Dyson was able to put the the motor in the handle as opposed to the head of the dryer— again, aesthetically pleasing. The dyer comes with three attachments to achieve various looks/finishes, and you can even go sans attachment, especially when travelling (let's be real though, I just like the way that looks). And lastly— because I could seriously go on forever about this one— the Supersonic has a 'cool shot' option for a blast of cold air when you're done styling that locks everything in place and boosts shine (amazing). All in all, if you're looking for a hair dryer that won't damage your hair, is super portable and sexy as hell, look no further.
