Happy World Book Day!

I learned about World Book Day after my husband, and I have seen the giant book sculpture in Barcelona. We just discovered it while enjoying the view of a round-about fountain changing its colours that made the night beautiful. I think it’s one of the most unusual statues I have ever seen. It’s also interesting because it depicts how the people value reading in the city or country.

World Book Day is celebrated on 23 April every year, but other countries celebrate it earlier than April. In Spain, though, the celebration is to commemorate the renowned author of Don Quixote de la Salamanca, Miguel Cervantes, along with another author Alcalá de Henares. I have the Don Quixote book, but it’s not an easy read for me as my Spanish is still in progress. I have read the children’s version, though.

The last book I’ve read was the I Should Have Known, which I wanted to read first before watching the mini-series version on HBO. I usually compare the book version with the movie version. Most of the time, the book version has more details that are pretty complicated to be metamorphosed into actions.

How about you, what’s the latest book you have read? I would love to know, and perhaps it’s something that interests me.

HAPPY WORLD BOOK DAY, READERS!
