The restrictions were lifted. Goodbye Covid-19?

Our Public Health Agency has announced that beginning September 29, the Restrictions against covid-19 would be lifted. That was yesterday. I supposed that everything would be back to normal, and we could go back to meeting face to face again. I missed that. However, there are still precautions to take when feeling some signs of symptoms and getting sick.

Just days before the restrictions were lifted, I noticed that the trams were crowded again during rush hours. I was wearing a mask, but I felt a bit ashamed because only a handful of us was donning a mask. I did so because I haven’t got my vaccine yet. I think I will miss the almost empty tram ride or bus ride from work in the afternoon.

Although the restrictions are gone now, we still maintain our online meetings and conferences at work. I am not going to miss the online instruction or teaching, though. I feel that education is more productive in the classroom, and it’s the most effective way to help my students.

In a way, I am happy that the health agency has lifted all the restrictions, but I don’t think we can say goodbye to covid-19 yet. It’s still here, and somehow I agree with what I read that it will become a seasonal disease, just like the flu.

Until it’s gone, stay safe, everyone and maintain common sense!
