The Process

Once you’ve decided on Sheffield web designers GY Web, then what?

First, it’s great to welcome you as a new client of GY Web, we can’t thank you enough for trusting Sheffield based Website Design Agency GY Web to bring your online vision to life and really take your Business to the next level.

We are sure that working with us will be a great experience, we leave no stone unturned and work with you every step of the way to deliver exactly what you and your business needs to be successful online. We have a fixed process in place to maintain high standards across each single one of our clients. So, what can you expect from us?

Before you agreed to work with GY Web, we will have done a lot of talking about what your business does, how you are different, what your aims are and where you see your business in the next five years, this is all standard communication so we can discover if we are a good fit for eachother.

Discovery

Now the real discovery stage begins, we need as much information from you as possible, we need to know everything about your business so that we can deliver the best outcome possible. This is the first and, in our opinion, the most vital stage of the process, here is where we lay the foundations so that your website can be built properly, with a solid grounding.

We will ask questions such as: (among many)

  • In detail, what is it your business does?
  • Who are your competitors?
  • Describe to us who your ideal customer is.
  • What is the goal of your website?
  • What is the maximum outcome you see from your website?

During this stage, we will really discover what makes your business tick and how we can put that over to your potential clients. Our aim is to build a link / bond between your business, the website and your visitors. Ultimately the main goal will be to turn visitors into callers/clients.

Planning

Like the discovery stage, planning your new website means we can deliver a first draft that is very close to your brief. The Correct planning at this stage can save you time and budget in the long run, if we put everything in place at this stage then there will be no unexpected additions or features at a later stage. But if there is, it’s cool, we understand things change and encourage all clients to constantly communicate with us to make sure everything is being done as you require.

If you have decided on an Seo Strategy for your new website, then this planning stage becomes even more vital, this is the part of the process where we research your keywords, make a list of SEO curated content ready to go and communicate with you on search terms for your chosen business or industry, doing this now will save you so much time in the future and mean that the original launch dates can be kept as close as possible to agreed.

Once the SEO strategy is finalised, we can then begin work on your sitemap and wireframe, this is better described as the pages your new website will need and how we can structure the site to deliver the best user experience possible for your clients. This is the part of the process where we decide on features such as content pages, contact pages, services and about your business pages. Once the sitemap is agreed on, we can then use this to build out the copy needed to make your site come to life.

Content is vital, the correct content will be the difference between your webiste being a success or becoming just another website on the internet, we are able to offer you two options here, the first being your provide the content needed to build your website, this is sometimes a great idea in that who knows your business better than you? But then can also be a bad idea in that, you may not be the best in putting that into words. Which is understandable, let’s be honest at the end of the day if you are an accountant you will be better with numbers and we certainly wouldnt be doing your tax returns for you, it is always best to do what you are best at and leave certain aspects to other professionals. We have a team of copyrighters who can offer expertly curated copy for your new website (they didnt write this blog, our founder Joe (thats me) always writes them, and I certainly won’t be writing website copy).

Design

This is the part of the process where everything starts to look like a website. The main part of your web design is to try and perfectly balance the process of your website (what is its goal) to match the look and feel of the design. No one wants to visit or use a poorly designed website, but then a website that looks great might not truly maximise the process of your website. Think along the lines of a website that looks great but doesnt have a way of contacting you, that’s it in the simplest form, but you get the idea.

Working through your wireframe we put together earlier, we can now add content to each element of the frame. What is the main goal of your services pages, is it to just highlight what you do or is it to tell clients what you do but in more detail, do you want to give your clients information or just give them enough to want to find out more on a call? There is a lot of work that goes into this stage before we put the final development into place.

We haven’t even started to talk about colours, typography and images. Check out a future blog on those design aspects as we can’t really cover those things in a small blog post such as this one. The world is literally our oyster when it comes to colours, fonts and the unbelievable number of images available to you.

Develop

This is the stage where we put everything covered so far into something you can see on a monitor or phone screen, the website itself. I am sure you will agree that together we have done a lot of work already to reach this stage. The process is a long but ultimately exciting and engaging experience. This stage is a lengthy process so it is not uncommon for you to not hear from us for a week to ten days during the development stage, we do work hard to keep this down so you feel fully involved in where are currently upto with your new website.

Launch

The big exciting day has arrived. This is where we will make sure everything is ready for the website to go live. Obviously, you will have already seen the site and signed it off ready to be released to the entire world. Prior to launch we will have made sure that all spellings are correct, all images are set to correct sizes, checked all links are working as they should, made sure you have a useful 404 page, made sure all contact pages correctly link to your email address, made sure all social links are working as they should and a hundred other things to make sure the launch is seamless.

Maintenance

Something that is often overlooked when launching a new website is that like a new car or a house, your website needs to be maintained in order to keeping it working exactly as it should.

Maintenance is so important, do you have the time and expertise to make sure your site is blocking any security vulnerabilities, slower page loading times or a declining user experience?

Working with GY Web to maintain your website, means we will routinely manage all your website updates to make sure your site is completely free from virus or security flaws, we will back up your website daily so that is the worse does happen you will have a safe secure back up of your website ready to be relaunched inside 24 hours, we will keep on top of all analytics and tracking and make sure your website is working as it should at all times.

We find that all our clients who take advantage of our maintenance agreements love the idea that someone else is talking care of their website for them. Security, backups and updates take a lot of time to keep in tip top condition. Keeping your website in 100% condition is vital to your business and something you should consider with any new website, either from us or another developer.

Once your site is live, we are available to you every step of the way to make sure your online presence is always doing the best for your business.

We can’t wait to get started on your new website.
