I was blown away! Jordan completely surprised me. It was right before Christmas that he started spending a lot of time away from home and telling me he was Christmas shopping for me. Jordan is one to take his time doing things and spending time on gifts. He likes to 

be funny/give me a hard time so i was believing him 100% that thats what he was doing. Jordan also said he would never propose on a holiday, yet make a random day special. We had spoken about getting engaged and had wanted to for quite some time (darn student loans). So Christmas eve morning came around which is when we have our special time at our house to do our gifts just us before meeting with both our families for the next 2 days. I am a bit of a kid still when it comes to opening presents so i was up by 6:30am. After our Starbucks run, we got home where Jordan had 5 moving box size boxes for me under the tree. He told me the night before that there would be no touching, shaking of the boxes etc. I asked him if there was any order to which the boxes should be opened.. he just laughed and said hang on im cold and need to go get my slippers on (totally normal for him lol). He got back into the room, gave me a box to start opening and as i started to unwrap it he got down on one knee... me being the goof i am didnt even realize that he had a ring in his hand - i thought he was just wanting to see my reaction to whats inside. I finally looked over, saw the ring, instantly started balling & with my face in my hands heard... "Elizabeth Lauren Smith, you are my best friend, i love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" 

Tell us about your first date.

After Jordan and i ran into each other downtown on New Years Eve i messaged him saying it was really good running into him again etc. He agreed and a few days later he was on his way over to my house with a bottle of wine and wanting to meet Bubba, my Frenchie who was only a few months old at the time. We hung out and talked for hours that night, reminiscing about high school stories etc. Jordan at the time was on Christmas break from school so we spend a lot of time together before he went back to Mankato. Jordan came home every weekend after that until he graduated in December. We were inseperable! Us hanging out at home, with a bottle of wine and a movie is us to a T! We are home bodies and would take that date night any time over going out somewhere. about two weeks in to us hanging out again, i knew he was the one :) I was going through some hard times with having family members sick & ended up losing my Grandma and Uncle within a month of each other.. this all happened in the first month of Jordan and i dating. He came home to my place after each funeral, sent flowers etc. This is when i knew he was the one. I honestly feel (as cheesy as this is) that my grandma sent me him, to help me through everything. 

Tell us what you like to do together.

Jordan and I love spending time at home with our 3 dogs (Vinny, Bubba and Boo). With Jordan working the long days that he does and me being a teacher of 18 3 year olds being home is heaven! We love watching movies, having fires, and just tinkering around the house.

During the summer, we go to what is called 'cars and coffee' at the Chanhassen AutoMotor Plex. My parents have a garage there and Jordan and i love cars. Its nice to have some family time and bring the pups :) 

Jordan and I wish we could travel more but with lack of time we don't get to often. Even if it is just getting a hotel downtown for the night and grabbing dinner or getting some shopping in ;) With our busy schedules we try to make time together when we get it to be special. that is when we starting a few times a year grabbing a hotel for a weekend getaway or even a night! Just time to each other without work & life distractions.
