For my daughter’s tenth birthday, we were on the hunt for a backpack, as a birthday gift from her little brother. I decided to check out the Kipling Singapore store to see the design options available. While the variety of backpacks on offer is fairly limited, we managed to find a cheery colorful backpack that would accompany Saira to school everyday.
Kipling, founded in 1987 in Antwerp, Belgium is a brand that sells handbags, backpacks, totes, cross bodies, and the like. Today, the brand has presence in 80 countries, across 7500 stores. While the nylon waterproof fabric is very quintessentially Kipling, the brand has very recently made mid-size backpacks in a more softer satiny fabric, making it totally huggable.
What brings an immediate smile to the face is the signature monkey keychain that hangs from each backpack. I noticed that some of the newer designs had simple plastic or metal monkey keychains, but the signature furry monkey keychains still remain my favorite.
Why I like Kipling?
- Their products are water-resistant and do not need delicate handling
- Their cross-body bags are perfect accompaniments for hiking, grocery trips, and shuttling with young kids in tow
- Their bags are super light-weight
The brand designs some incredibly practical products – from crossbody phone bags, mini backpacks, makeup bags, diaper bags, gym bags, luggage etc.
The colour options for their products in the US store are just fabulous – from Barbie Pink to Lavender Night. However, if you are unable to make a trip there anytime soon, something from the Singapore store might catch your eye.
