Stay at Home Order and Filing Bankruptcy

Many clients have become concerned that the stay at home order will delay the Bankruptcy process. Although the courts are not holding in-person sessions, 341 meetings or “Meeting of Creditors” are being held either telephonically or via video chat.

Changes

Slight changes to the procedures have been made in order to accommodate this change. You may be asked to send your bankruptcy attorney’s office a copy of your driver’s license and social security card in order for the trustee to confirm your identity prior to the meeting.

These changes in procedures have not caused a noticeable delay in the processing of cases at this time. These procedures will remain in effect for the foreseeable future.

If you have questions about the bankruptcy process reach out to your Yuba City bankruptcy attorney at (530) 797-4402.
