Frugal Fall Fun

Frugal Fall Fun

Fall will be here before we know it!  There are so many fun things to do during this season, but if you’re on a budget, like myself, then Fall can be expensive if you don’t have a plan.  We have created a list of budget friendly ways to get the most out of this upcoming season and enjoy some frugal fall fun!

Fall Flavors

Enjoy the flavors of fall on a budget!  I love pumpkin and apple food and drinks and there is no better time to enjoy these delicious flavors other than the fall.

Don’t spend your money on overpriced coffee and latte’s, instead get yourself some flavored creamers and spices for your coffee at home. Don’t like coffee?  Make your own apple cider at home, it’s quite easy and is delicious!

Don’t forget the desserts!  There are so many sweet treats to enjoy this time of year.  A few of my fall favorites are pumpkin bundt cake, pumpkin roll, apple cake, and who can resist a delicious homemade apple pie?  Not me.

Fall Wardrobe

Of course the Fall calls for a few new pieces to be added to your wardrobe.  Avoid paying high retail prices and still get the pieces you love by shopping Thredup, Poshmark or Ebay.  They always have name brand and designer items at a discount, some items are new while most are gently used but still in great condition.

Amazon also has some really cute clothing items at great prices.  I’ve just recently started to love shopping on Amazon for myself clothing.  I’ll let you know what my favorites are.

Apple Orchard or Pumpkin Patch

Be sure to check out your local pumpkin patch or apple orchard.  They always have a lot of fun activities for the entire family.

If you don’t plan ahead a trip to the local orchard or pumpkin patch might be a little pricey.  We always go with a group and it saves us a lot of money!  Often times they will give groups a nice discount or one flat fee for everything instead of paying for each activity individually.  Check with your local farm or orchard and see what the best deal is for your family and friends.

Weiner Roast

Fall’s cool evenings are the best time to get warm and cozy by a fire.  Have a weiner roast with your family or invite friends over and enjoy everyone’s company by the fire roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, looking at the stars and telling ghost stories.

Sports events

For many of us Fall=Football!  If you enjoy football games consider attending a local college or high school game.

If you’re more of an NFL person, host a game night at home and have everyone bring their own drinks and an appetizer to share.  Or meet up at a local restaurant. While you will have to pay for drinks and food, it will still be a lot cheaper than if you actually attend an NFL game.

Free or Inexpensive Local Events

Fall is full of fun activities for the family.  There are a lot inexpensive and even free activities for you and your family.

Festivals are a great way to enjoy your day and they usually have some sort of free entertainment.  You will probably spend some money at a festival but try to have lunch or dinner before going to help keep expenses down.

We also love fall craft fairs, flea markets and haunted houses.

Cancel gym membership for a couple months

Instead of getting your workout in at the gym consider cancelling your membership for a couple months to enjoy the great outdoors.  There is no better time to enjoy working out outdoors than in the Fall.  The weather is perfect for a workout.  Maybe take a bike ride, hike or run on a trail and enjoy the beautiful colors of the leaves.

Fall is such a great season to enjoy without breaking the bank. As always, plan for these fun activities to avoid over spending. From pumpkin lattes to pumpkin farms, you are sure to find something for everyone to enjoy while staying on budget!
