Wednesday, 8.31.2016 WOD:
For Time:
5 Deadlifts (135#)
20 Push-Ups
10 Deadlifts
20 Push-Ups
15 Deadlifts
20 Push-Ups
20 Deadlifts
20 Push-Ups
50 4-Count Flutter Kicks
I love me some deadlifts. It’s one of my favorite movements. But by the time I finished the last set of deadlifts and realized I had done a total of 50, it didn’t feel quite like the best thing ever.
And the push-ups. Oh man. My original plan was to do 10 – shake it off – do 5 – shake it off – do another 5. I started my 10 and my arms were begging for mercy. So 5-5-5-5 it was. But towards the end it became more like sets of 2s and 3s.
The thing about push-ups though, is once they leave you they are so out the door and in their car, backing out of the driveway. They are so quick to leave, you can hardly hear them say, “See ya!”
By the time I got to the flutter kicks, I was exhausted, but I could see the light at the end of the tunnel – a tunnel drenched in sweat. During the flutter kicks, I thought, “This isn’t so bad.” Maybe because my arms were so sore. But my core must have heard me because just when I thought I was OK, there it was: the ouchness.
I forgot what my time was when I finished, but I think it was about 11 or 12 minutes. That sounds so quick! But in the middle of the WOD it felt more like it was taking me 11 or 12 hours to get through it.
Still, one of the best feelings is laying on the ground, practically dead, knowing that you completed a tough WOD. And then knowing that there’s more tomorrow.
Then you realize that your rest day is tomorrow!
And there was much rejoicing.
