100% Grass Fed Beef Burgers with Buttery Garlic Baked French Fries

Yesterday was Friday and let me tell you what…. that was one LONG week!  I left work early one day as I was feeling sick.  Then Thursday I called my doctor in the morning and she was able to see me that afternoon so I left early AGAIN.  I had a complete breakdown in my doctor’s office and told her I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired!  My stomach was still giving me problems - not the same kind of problems when I get glutened but still problems!  She told me it was due to my GERD again and I needed to be put back on GERD medicine.  Ok, so be it!  She promised it’ll fix me and I’m telling you what… it better!!!! I’m losing my mind being sick all of the time!  I’ve had stomach/digestive problems since December!

Anyway, the weekend was here and what better way to start it off than burgers and French Fries – We are Americans, after all! :D Normally my husband and I would go out to eat on the weekends but I feel like that’s not a treat for me anymore - it’s more like torture.  Sure, I know you can eat out with celiac disease and there’s a lot of places that are safe, however, with all of the pain I’ve been through lately, I just don’t want to take any chances.  After all - your health is in a strangers hands when you’re eating out.

My wonderful hubbs went to the grocery store and picked me up some 100% Grass Fed Beef and a big bag of potatoes to make french fries.  I LOVE making my own french fries - they’re super easy, healthier, and you can make them exactly how you want!

This whole grass fed beef thing is new to me.  I never bought it before to eat at home… of course I’ve had grass fed beef burgers out at restaurants before and they were always amazing.  I prefer my burger to be 100% beef - just leave it that way.  I don’t think there is a need to add in worchestershire sauce, bread crumbs, egg, seasoning, etc.  Just give me a plain beef burger & no one gets hurt.  I will say from having the grass fed… I’d do it again (honestly it’s not that much more expensive and this is your HEALTH). I’m trying to eat more clean.  After all, food is fuel & we definitely don’t fuel our bodies the way we should be.

For the french fries I cut them into 3 slices (top left).  Then I slice each of those 3 slices into french fry slices (top right).  On the bottom left you can see that sometimes the slices are too big for my liking and I cut them smaller.  I put them on a cookie sheet and drizzle oil on top and mix them all around.

I decided to get a little adventurous here.  When my fries were done, I melted some dairy free butter and sprinkled in garlic powder.  Then I snipped some of my parsley (these herbs on my window are a new thing and I’m obsessed).  I drizzled the butter and sprinkled some parsley over top of my french fries. Amazing, let me just tell you that!

Burger Ingredients:

1 lb 90/10 100% grass fed beef burgers

Burger toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, ketchup, mustard, etc)

French Fry Ingredients:

4 small-medium potatoes

2 heaping tablespoons Dairy Free Butter

½ tsp Garlic Powder (you could use 1 garlic clove here instead)

Fresh parsley

1-2 tablespoons Olive oil

French Fries

1. Slice 4 potatoes into french fries

2. Preheat oven to 450

3. Place french fries on cookie sheet with 1-2 tablespoons oil. Mix around with your hands to be sure french fries & cookie sheet are oiled (you don’t want your fries to stick)

4. Bake your french fries on medium rack for 20 minutes or until golden brown.  I usually use a metal spatula to peel any ones that are sticking about half way through and mix them around to be sure they all brown.

5. Melt 2 heaping tablespoons butter and mix in ½ teaspoon garlic powder.

6. Drizzle butter over french fries once they have been removed from oven and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley.

Burgers

1. Patty your burgers (¼ lb burgers = 4 burgers if you have 1 lb meat…woah, simple math - you were lucky).

2.Preheat your grill to about 400.

3. Grill your burger for 2-3 minutes on each side for a medium burger

4. Add your toppings & enjoy! :)
